Brush restoration information source?

I looked at the wiki, and either I just totally missed it, or there really is no information for brushes there. Are there any step-by-step instructions for brush restoration here on B&B? I'm kind of interested in trying my hand at restoring some brushes if I find some good handles at antique shops, but wanted to know exactly what I'm getting into beforehand. Thanks in advance, guys. I'm sure the information will be quick in coming, and will be overwhelming in its quality!

Here's the one that started me, but be warned it's a VERY slippery slope

If someone would be good enough to send me a nice butterscotch I'm more than willing to do a full step by step restore for the wiki ( using "laymans" tools " )

There's a couple of links on my wiki page ( link below ) that may also be of assistance.

Enjoy !!

Thanks, Fidjit. I'm thinking that will definitely get me started when I decide to take that first step. Slopes don't bother me, gravity is our friend. Besides, the fast rides are the fun ones!

Thanks fidjit! Would you be able to show us all how deeply we need to sand the handle before it goes back to its original white colour? It seemed to take ages for all the ones I worked on!

Kicking this thread back up!

Pelling the hairs, don't have a drill, what can I use to remove the bristles that are stuck inside the brush? I seems to be pulling them out 3 at the time. I will be here for a while.

Some knots were ready for restoration, I pulled on them with my fingers and it came out in 1 piece... This last one is giving me troubles. A product maybe I can soak the brush in that will soften the glue?

Soak in hot soapy water.

Knife, screwdriver, corkscrew....and patience :biggrin1:
