I have an AoS brush that I really wish that would happen to. And then I would use your less permanent(silicone??) to play sound with the loft. I've tried everything short of destroying the handle to get the knot out with no luck.
I had two stacked on top of each other but that made the brush very stiff, alomost like a boar bristle. I ended up deciding on just one - I believe it was the 3/4 inch inner diameter.

Sure do, thanks to Loric of course. I was thinking of buying some o rings to play around with as they seem like a bit more of a somewhat permanent fix. My goal was to get the knot out with the handle intact. Then bore out the hole and reset the knot. Then I would have a modified AoS brush. More info here. Once I gave up I tried keeping it in the shower for a couple months, using it occasionally for emergency early morning shaves. The knot is still in there, and it doesn't look like its coming out anytime soon. You already know about O-rings and velcro cable straps, right?
