The glue failed, and it can be re-glued. Most folks use five-minute epoxy, although I like the idea of using something a little less permanent if I want to experiment with the loft.
I have an AoS brush that I really wish that would happen to. And then I would use your less permanent(silicone??) to play sound with the loft. I've tried everything short of destroying the handle to get the knot out with no luck.
Simply sand off the old adhesive from the bottom of the glue plug and the knot hole and re-install with another adhesive. I am a fan of Devcon clear 5 minute 2 part epoxy. Workable for 5 min and fully set in 60 minutes. Have yet to have a failure-though anything is possible. Hopefully, you'll never have to worry about it.
You already know about O-rings and velcro cable straps, right?
I had two stacked on top of each other but that made the brush very stiff, alomost like a boar bristle. I ended up deciding on just one - I believe it was the 3/4 inch inner diameter.

Sure do, thanks to Loric of course. I was thinking of buying some o rings to play around with as they seem like a bit more of a somewhat permanent fix. My goal was to get the knot out with the handle intact. Then bore out the hole and reset the knot. Then I would have a modified AoS brush. More info here. Once I gave up I tried keeping it in the shower for a couple months, using it occasionally for emergency early morning shaves. The knot is still in there, and it doesn't look like its coming out anytime soon.
