Has been obtained. An Eagle 3 in Best from the group buy a few years ago. Snagged it from kooshman last week on the BST. I can't believe a guy would sell this thing, but it worked out well for me! I have been on B&B for 16-17 months, and I can only think of a couple of these that have come up for sale. Now I know why.
Knot - I measure it at about 24/47. It's more of a bulb shape, which works perfectly since I face lather exclusively. It's dense, which gives it lots of backbone. This knot seems to have just a tiny bit more scritch than the previous Simpsons in Best that I have used... most likely because of the extra backbone. It's just the right amount of scritch for my tastes. I have no trouble with flow-through.
Handle - perfect size, perfect shape. The Eagle has a ton of fans, and it's easy to see why.
This is the 5th Simpsons Best that has come through my den. I have sold all of the others (Berkeley, Colonel, Duke 2, Classic 1) because I preferred my two custom TGN Finest brushes to them. Honestly, they were all fantastic brushes but just couldn't quite knock the TGNs out of their positions. The Classic 1 was probably my favorite of that group. If the handle were a little bigger, I would have kept it. The Eagle improves on everything that made me willing to part with that Classic 1.
There's only ONE thing that could make this Eagle better... a black handle with gold lettering. Might have to try to make that happen one day, as I have seen a Simpsons with that color scheme.
