Brush Help!

looking for a brush, I'm a newbie. Just ditched the can and have started with hard soaps and am loving it. Have a borrowed brush and am looking to buy my own. I have narrowed it down to a few and wanted your thoughts because I have only seen 1 in the flesh.

Saw the C&E EJ super BB at a store this week, its on sale for $72, i found it to be very stiff, but not entirely soft at the tips, kind of prickly.

I do want something with backbone for the hard soaps but soft at the tip for face lathering. So i guess i have narrowed it down to:

Simpson Colonel X2L "Best" - $65
Simpson Commodore X2 - $60
Simpson Commodore X3 - $70
Rooney 3/1 - "Super" Silvertip - $75
C&E EJ "Super" BB - $72

Thanks in advance!

All are excellent brushes. You should also consider the Rooney 1/1, which is considered more of a face lathering brush. I would also suggest a Simpson Berkeley or Case. If you are open to a boar brush, I have found the Semogue 1305 to be excellent as well.

Check out Truefit and Hill, they have Rooney and Simpson brushes and you get 20% B+B discount!! Also, Westcoast Shaving has Shavemac Finest brushes for about the same amount of money. I just got a Finest knot from Bernd for Christmas, and it is a sweet knot!!

Check out the Vie-Long El Toro Ganso from Bullgoose. It has nice backbone and supersoft tips. It's perfect for face lathering. I've only had mine for a few days. Be warned, this may come to you a little funky. You'll probably need to lather it a few times like I did to get rid of the scent. The tips are about as soft as my SR3722 and I expect it will be the softest after it is fully broken in.
