Brown Leaf Monthly Discussion for June . Fathers Day!

We can change the topic when Ed gets back to a computer. I figured since we are going to de-rail it anyway, what do you want for Fathers Day, and what did you get? If you're not a father (that you know of:biggrin1:) you can still chime in.

I ordered mine already- the 2013 LE Tinsky. I think my choice was wise :001_smile

Man, that's coming up isn't it... Well maybe this year I'll send him his parents collection of family photos that I've had packaged up and ready to ship since 2009.

This place really takes care of itself when I'm not around, nice! I like the discussion title, we can keep it around for a while. I'm not a member of the father club yet, hell, not even gonna be married til next year. My dad liked to smoke a pipe and have a cigar every now and then, but I never got the chance to smoke with him. He passed away when I was 14. Would have been nice to share my AD with him, can't wait to see what our brethren of the Leaf will share here.

My father actually quit smoking for almost a year. There is no way I will be the one to get him started again so I have knocked off anything from the brown leaf for a fathers day present, however he did comment on my Lamy Studio, so I think I might try and see if we can share a fountain pen AD.

I had thought the Tinsky LE was mine, but I've been informed I have an open IOU for something else, if a straight razor I really like or a pipe comes up on the BST. If nothing shows up by like later June, I'll peruse P&C for a another pipe...

+1 on the 2013 LE Tinsky as a stellar choice. My choice as well. Pointed the wife in the right direction and she confirmed that it's been ordered. I've never looked forward to a Father's day gift as much.

6 100g tins of Peter Heinrichs Dark Strong arrived today from 4noggins...

I'm not yet a Father but I will be heading to visit my dad on Father's Day weekend. I still haven't figured out what to get him, but a couple weeks ago under a lot of stress he mentioned he could go for a beer and a cigar to relax (which is strange because he doesn't usually partake of either), so I'm somewhat considering taking him up on that.

i am getting myself a peterson 303, and maybe a 302------- other than that i am going to the lake for a few days to get away from the nonsense in this world

Truly the final kitten update:

Ginger was put down on monday. She had leukemia. I gave her a good two weeks, with lots of attention and wet food. Which is more than she would have gotten if we left her at the abandoned house. I do miss having her follow me around outside the hotel and joining me on smoke breaks, but there was little choice.

:crying: Knowing in the end it is better a far better thing for her doesn't always help people feel better about it. There's no doubt she appreciated and enjoyed the time and your efforts. Godspeed, Ginger.

At least she had a good two weeks, and didn't go suffering and alone.

We lost our sweet boy this December on my wife's birthday. Hit by a car. He was10, and a feral rescue so we never felt like we could keep him indoors. He had a sweet life, and was the sweetest boy ever. We had a dog cat--affectionate, would chase toys, never bitchy. We miss him terribly. He went out in his prime, and we found him and buried him with love.

I can't imagine having to make the choice you had to mark. So hard. And yet, you had time to love him and say goodbye. However they leave us, we grieve the loss if our furry family.

My thoughts are with you in your time of loss.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Life goes on as planned though. I proposed to my girlfriend Lydia yesterday, she said yes.

Congrats! Heck of a swing in one week, from really bad to really good!

I did the one knee thing with my SWMBO, she was in such shock and excitement at first that she blurted out "no!" before I even asked anything, she doesn't remember that though, we laugh about it. She said "yes" after she came to her senses! :biggrin1:
