My dad always had both. I remember as a kid going into his bathroom from time to time just to smell the English leather, so that's always been my favorite. Gotta get myself some of that.
I was slightly leaning towards English Leather in my head, but your responses have pushed me all the way to that side. Now, I just need to get myself some. Thanks!
Canoe would gag a maggot. British Sterling is a bit sweet for me. English Leather is smoother and I used a lot of it 50 years ago. These days I've more gone back to Skin Beacer. (Thanks, I needed that!) Of the two in the OP I would have to go with EL.
British Sterling for me. English Leather made me gag, it was too sharp. A nice leather-like scent is Clubman Special Reserve. It smells like a well oiled baseball glove, not a sweaty saddle. Just USE IT SPARINGLY because it lasts a lonnnng time.
Both are old time classics. I bought a bottle of EL a while back and it still smells nice to me. Haven't smelled British Sterling in many, many years. But "back then" I used to wear it as much as, or maybe even more than EL.
British Sterling for me, picked up a bottle at walmart a year or so ago and like everything, myself included I dont think it is as good as it used to be but it seems pretty close to what I remember , it was my go to for many years..
I'm for English Leather. I wore it for years...I should really dig out the bottle and start it back up. British Sterling always smelled too sweet and flowery for me.
