British Razor Blades

is anyone able to prove me wrong but it would appear we don't as a country produce any safety razor blades, we still manufacture the shape for the industrial market.

Whilst i like the blades i use, I like to buy local etc and would prefer my blades not to have traveled 3000 miles.

Is it time for a new blade on the market?

I think the last blade made in the UK was by Wilkinson, and they stopped production in 1998-1999. There are still a bit of them floating around tho. Packaging is similar to the DE Wilks in current production.

Unfortunatly i was still in cartridge hell at the end of the 90s and i dont want to try the british wilkinson nowing i cant get any more.

I do wonder if there is a market for british blades, and would people try a new british blade if it came out?

I would. I don't think there is a large enough market to be honest.

Its a real shame, ive been contacting sheffield based steel companies that currently make industrial use razor blades, some of whom used to make consumer blades, non of them are able to manufacture blades suitable for shaving, as I really would like to maket a uk made blade (if it was any good).

There doesnt really need to be a large market, as long as it is large enough to break-even. which my sums say it should be able to
