What's new

bringing a gillette tech back to life (pics)

picked this up at an antique store, sticker on it was $12 but the fellow suggested I pay $10, so I took it. It is my first DE and I plan on using it tonight. I spent about an hour cleaning it with some metal polish and an old tshirt. Some of the discolouration was pretty stubborn, but I eventually got it all off.

Looks nice and new now and hopefully will have many more years of service! This is the version with the rectangular holes at the bottom.

That is the perfect razor for a first DE. They're mild, cheap and well-constructed. The fat "bar type" handle Tech also doesn't suffer from the cracking that some of the ball handles back in the day had.

The ball end handles on Tech razors are solid metal and shouldn't suffer from cracking.
