Breaking in a quality brush - and myself as well

So I've moved on from my Vulfix 404 badger/boar and 514b Hyde Park. I'm now the proud owner of a Simpsons Duke 2 best badger. It has more hairs in it than I have on the whole of my face. Whilst the brush is clearly of high quality, I have been having teething problems. I'm a face latherer, and because the hair on the brush is so dense, I'm struggling to get the right water balance in the brush. So far I've either had too thin and wet a lather, or too dry. Any tips?

Went through an exercise where i used 7 very high quality, extremely dense brushes one after the other. It took a couple of days, but the approach I found that worked best for me is to drain nearly all the water out so that the brush is merely damp. Load for 90 to 120 seconds and then face lather. The first lay down of the lather will be too dry, but that's ok. Start adding a few drops of water and lather face again. Keep repeating this until the lather on your face reaches a creamy, non-foamy consistency. It should maintain that creaminess all the way through the shave. If it doesn't, then you need to add more water. If it gets too foamy, then you'll need to go back to the puck and load more soap.

Whatever you do, use only one soap until you master the procedure and then repeat with all your other soaps.
