Bracher's "Barber Special" synthetic hone- any insights appreciated

I've been cleaning out some of my miscellaneous old stuff and came across this barber's hone. It purports to be a combination stone that combines the "fast cutting properties of the artificial hone with the smooth finishing of the Belgian hone." Anybody played with anything like this? I did some searches and found a few threads mentioning synthetic coticules, but this piece doesn't really look like much the ones pictured. It is also formed in some way, the dark bit is not glued on, but integral. It has been used with oil; discover while lapping. Any info appreciated. View attachment 1098224
