Boycott a Product ?

Oh, if he was like a lot of the folks I treated, he was a different soul with family not around. He may have been a "character" that the nurses loved to give and take with!

Lol, my dad was probably my age when he told me he couldn't wait to get old so he could say whatever the heck he pleased.

He ended up spending the last year or so of his life in the facility I worked at. I obviously was never his nurse, but all the aides and his nurses loved him. He was an ornery old cuss, but ALWAYS a gentleman, if that makes any sense. That greatest generation was just made like that.

I suspect that if the Creator chooses to use you as a member of the few old men that make it to a "rest home" that you will be one that they fight over to care for.

Hah! I don't know if they'll be fighting to care for me. I don't think I'm all that engaging but who knows what another 20 years will do.

What spices have you bought from em in the past? Are the good?

Fair question I have made a somewhat complete list below.

Quebec Steak Seasoning
Mitchell Street Steak Seasoning "Chicago Steak"
Cajun Rub
Fajita Seasoning
Chili Powder
Black Pepper Fish seasoning
Rib Rub
Game Seasoning "phesant" not produced anymore
Pop Corn Seasoning
Salt
Pepper

Yes, agreed but what I was suggesting is that should boycotting an unethical country also be considered.
I don't by Russian made blades period . I use Personna reds and just picked up 100 silver star blades from Egypt. Will buy 100 7oclock blacks from India next. Nice to still have choices in the market place.

They called themselves Communists and Socialists but the Soviet Union was really a Dictatorship with some elements of an Oligarchy. Russia's basically the same thing.
Oh well. They make the only blades I like. Actually ALL of my favorite blades are of Russian manufacture, mostly from the same factory. PPI ?
I have no problem buying them whatsoever. Gotta love Gillette! Lol.
So woke they make blades in Russia! At any rate, I'd like to keep the blade makers in Russia employed. They are working men like most of us. In my opinion, nothing else even comes close to those blades. So props to the Russians on that one. They will probably end up being our ally against the real enemy someday anyway.

Edited to say yes you are right about what you said. I didn't mean to sound snippy or that I was commenting on your statement. I probably should have just posted and not replied directly.

Many razor blades seem to be made in countries with questionable human rights records, unless you go for Merkur, Wilkinson Sword, or American Safety Razor/Personna.

At any rate, I don't think it's a big deal as long as Gillette isn't financing Putin's politics directly. I don't think its practical or reasonable to boycott every country like that.

I would support Russian blade factories over German. German blades suck. Probably a good thing if they are supplying the no go zones. 😆

Why do German blades suck? I watched a documentary about the Merkur factory on Youtube once, and it seems to me they invest a great deal into making the blades. There are multiple coatings on each blade.

I used Merkur blades years ago and they seemed to be a decent, middle of the road blade. This was before the explosion in availability of other blades, though.

+1

I have no problem with Merkur blades, other than cost.

You answered your own question:
Decent middle of the road.
I would say more like "scraping the curb of the road dull"
As someone recently posted, and forgive me I do not remember which thread....something like "it's a pity that anyone (newbie) buying a Merkur Razor could potentially have the worst shave of their life with the included blade."
That was the funniest thing I've read all week! And totally accurate to boot.

They should invest more time in making them sharp. Have you ever tried one of those small moustache razors Merkur makes? The blades are horrible. I wish someone would make blades for that razor!

Most of their blades seemed sharp enough. There are cheaper blades out there, though.

Try a Silver Blue, Sputnik, Nacet, or Platinum. Smoother Sharper Better Cheaper. I will actually send you a tuck of each for free so you can try for yourself! Maybe not platinum. I might be out of those. Anyway, those are, IMHO, top of the line blades. I can even send you some feathers if you want to try them. PM me your address and I will send them out to you with a bonus vintage razor. For real. If you are interested, we can figure out what razor.

I've used Feathers. I'm not a fan of that style of blade.

I've never had a problem with a Derby or Shark that a Feather would have remedied.

Not a fan of Feathers either. I have them because I had an ASD2 that I ultimately didn't like. But I had bought like a hundred Feather blades! Even those didn't save it. But anyway, I was sincere in my offer. Let me know. No problem. And I will go on record as saying Feather blades are way over rated.

I like lots of Russian blades too. 7 o'clock Yellows and Silver Blues are probably the best I've tried and the small amount of money I've given them won't help them much. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to be allies of anyone though. Who do you think the real enemy will be? Even in WWII it was hard to say we were real allies. More just fighting a common enemy.

One need'nt go into specifics but...
Have you/ would you boycott a product if you found its politics, business practices dis agreeable no matter how enjoyable or effective ? Or is shaving a sanctuary from all that ? Or is shaving too important to ignore it ?

I used to argue in the 80's with auto workers about the quality of my VW, and Toyota vehicles, versus GM.

I wasn't popular with a lot of them, and was amazed at how angry some folks would get when I pointed out their hypocrisy when they were buying TV's and clothes from China.

Those "foreigners" need to feed their kids too.

Yes quite right. I remember when I had to get a relative to send me Derby half blades from turkey. Now you can buy them on Amazon, eBay etc
