What's new

Bought my first Vintage Brush and have some ?s [PICS]

Found this Montclair 6003 (Made in Switzerland) brush. I am new to wet shaving so I have no idea if this is a good brush or what kind of condition it's in so that's why I'm here! From the pics what are your thoughts? Should I try and use it? What's the best way to sterilize this? I only paid a few dollars for it so I'm not too worried if it's a really crappy brush or something.

50's style flare tip, nice razor! The date code will be visible on the base plate.

Just wash the boar bristles in a little shampoo and water, if they aren't too brittle and breaking off you should be good to go. What size is it?

Montclair was an importer of brushes that was based in New York and sold them under their house name. Here is the information on them.

Why do I have this information, because I have a NOS brush that was marketed by Montclair that was made in England.

So this was imported to the U.S. in the 1970's from an English manufacturer by Montclair importers. The company did not renew it's trademark and I never found a conclusive match on the maker of this brush. This is only the second brush that I have with Montclair badging.

Thanks GD,

Bit of historical research but the surprise for me was...

Wow...there REALLY is a Hicksville...!
