Bought an Abercrombie & Fitch Razor - Can anybody tell me more about it

While I love traditional wetshaving, I have always used a DE razor, but last weekend at a local farmers market in town, I found an old straight razor that didn't cost a lot of money. I don't have a picture at this time (I may be able to get one uploaded if need be) but what i can say about the razor is it looks to be in good shape. there is either rust or petina (not really sure) near the head and the shoulder but the blade looked to be in good shape. By researching the stamps on the shank, I found out it was produced by Abercrombie & Fitch. the razor looks identical to the one in the link (except it has black scales)

I don't believe that it's worth anything significant, but would be delighted to sell it if it was. i was more interested in finding out if it was a razor that is suited for a newb and if the small rust/petina spots would cause a problem (if so what should i do to restore the blade)

I've seen quite a few of them over the years. I'm not sure its related to the clothing company, but could very well be.

In terms of it being well suited for a newb, we would need to see some photos to make any type of determination.

sorry, i guess i can't like to other websites. here is the 1 picture I have of the razor, any information is greatly appreciated, and yes, before being bought by the limited, Abercrombie and Fitch was a retailer of suits and outdoor equipment, they also sold straight razors.

That's strange. I've probably, without exaggerating, looked at a half million straight razors on Ebay over the last few years, and never once seen an Abercrombie straight razor. But then again, most of my searches have "sheffield" in the search bar...

Does the tang say anything?
I have seen a lot of retail by mail companies resale German made razors. I have a Larking and a Murphy that are like that.

I would not be surprised if those A&F were re-branded Solingen goods.

I once owned an "A.&F. & Co. Straight razor and thought it was an Abercrombie & Fitch, but it turned out to be an Albert Fields and Co. Razor. Was a great shaver
