How much trouble do you go through to make each side of the scales match up? I have been looking at some honey horn blanks, and the ones I have been looking at seem to have random patterns that font match up real close. Do you get several sets and sort through them to try and get the best match, or is it a non issue?

I try to get each side of the scale to include as much unique figuring as is possible from the stock I'm using (usually exotic wood). Unless the wood is a heartwood/sapwood mix where I'd match the one color tone to the same end (toe or heel) I care nothing for book matching the scales
Ill bookmatch if I can, if I cant im not fussed.

I have never tried to match them, the different pattern add to the character
I like to book woods like Cocobolo and Monkeypod since the grain can be so distinct but not on bone.
