Body Shop Shaving cream

Now I thought the Body Shop had stopped making their old cream but then I found this on Amazon UK:

I know some members don't like the new macca route range but this looks like the old cream to me.

I had heard that they were planning to re-release the old formula but I did not expect to see it until near the holidays. Go Figure!

Are you sure this 'rerelease' isn't another sale---which takes place every 6 months? It takes a lot of effort to create a new product line, after all.

The Body Shop original is a great cream. I stocked up when it was on sale for $4.00 per 6.6 OZ tub; an unbeatable deal. I think the original price was around $16 per tub. For that price I prefer TOBS creams.

Although there are people who report skin problems with the new but not the old and vice versa, the consensus is that both products are so close as to make no difference in practice. The only thing I (and others too) have been able to establish is that the newer cream appears a little more concentrated---but it's exactly that, a little. The biggest change is the scent, really. The old one smells to me like a softened overripe banana with fruity, perhaps a tad leathery accents; the new one is more like a fresh, somewhat zesty cucumber. I prefer the scent of the old one and was sad to see it go, hence my reason to stock up, although I would be able to live with the new product, and would very likely include it in general rotation simply because the shave is that good.

Shavingwise TBS ranks amongst my favourite creams. Lather is soft, creamy, dense goodness which leaves my skin soft too; the way I shave it beats T&H and Trumper's (though not by much, those still are fine products in their own right), and is on par with TOBS Eton College at least. If you get a tub at the reduced price ($6 or €6 depending where you live) and like the scent, there really is very little competition, in my opinion.

You can always start by getting a sample of the new stuff from The Body Shop and see how you like its shaving characteristics.

I got a sample a few days ago of the new version and, although I did not like the smell, have to admit that shave was quite good, and best thing was it left my skin really moisturized...I'll definately get some in the future

The smell of the new formula need some time to be appreciated and i agree it remind cucumber.
Shaving properties are very good for sure it's one of my nicest cream for the skin.

I haven't tried the new formula, but the old stuff is superb. Cymric's description of the scent is very well put, "The old one smells to me like a softened overripe banana with fruity, perhaps a tad leathery accents."

Bought the new stuff around last October. It burned my face each time I used it (about six times).
During the holiday sale I took it back and exchanged it for the old formula, which was bought back as clearance. I also pretty much cleaned them out of the tubs and tubes of shave cream, the after shave balm/cream, face wash and face scrub.

Yeah, I like the old formula.
