Body Shop Old Formula

I used it again this morning. Its in the rotation. Have to say, it is a most amaz'in cream. Huge thick, cushiony, moisturizing lather. The fragrance, which is very odd, someone once mentioned it reminded them of rotten bananas, which I think is quite accurate, is for me, at this point irresistible, and it lingers all day.

I ran out awhile ago, but loved the performance and scent. It was the first non-goo cream I used with their synthetic brush. I miss it!

One of my favorite creams. I'm not sure what the scent reminds me of. Not rotten bananas though. You're right, it does tend to linger.

MetroNome, the old formula and new formula are pretty similar, so I would think both would create very similar lather. I think the main things that were changed were the fragrance, the preservatives in the cream, and the addition of maca root in the new cream.

The old cream had a very unique, sorta synthetic candy sweet scent that mellowed a bit once you started whipping it up. The new one, as you know, smells like Tide laundry powder detergent.

Yeah..the Maca smell has grown on me..sort of a fresh smell that last a few hours and makes my bathroom smell like I cleaned it.

I just cracked open my last tub this evening. After this one, it's on to the new stuff, which isn't bad. It's actually one of the better creams that can be had in a B&M. I just prefer the odd, medicinal candy scent of the old formula.

Honestly, I really wish BS would just do an unscented version of their cream and bring back the unscented version of the razor relief aftershave balm.

As I've mentioned before, the old formula Body Shop cream is still available in the UK in the Poundland discount stores. It's sold as Real Shaving Company Limited Edition cream as the Real Shave Company is effectively Creighton's own brand, even though they call themselves an " affiliate " company. Creighton's evidently still had a fair bit of the old formula cream in stock when the Body Shop switched their formula to the Maca Root cream and it also appears they still had the old tubs too as they've simply slapped some different labels on the old tubs and pushed this Limited Edition cream out to Poundland. I've sent a few tubs of this cream to B&B members because even though the shipping costs are way higher than the cost of the cream, the fact you can buy a tub for £1 means it's still a cost effective way of getting hold of the old formula cream.

Danny,

Are you sure that's the same as the old BS formula? I saw some discussion/comparison that indicated they were similar but not the same.

Do you have a photo of the RSC cream you could post so we could check out the ingredients?

Also, the old BS tubs were 200ml, not 175ml. I suppose it's possible that they just didn't fill the tube up all the way or used a different tub, but still.

Well, it looks the same, smells the same and lathers the same. Good enough for me!

I never got the old formula, but I do quite like the new Macca Root SC -- it gives a wonderful shave and I don't find the scent offensive at all.

I still have some of the old formula (generously PIF'ed to me during my early days on this site). The performance is excellent and the smell delightful. As much as I didn't want to like the Body Shop cream as much as some of my other products, in spite of myself, I know I will miss it when it's gone...(single tear).

Its the same. I bought the last 3 tubs from the local poundland, passed them on (I have way too many creams). But yeah, its an amazing bargain if you can get it.

ps I much prefer the scent of the Maca Root, not many do from what I read.
