Body Shop Maca Root Shave Cream

I maxed out on the old yellow cream when it was being sold off cheap, and used that "saving" to to justify hoovering up some expensive Coates that resurfaced. Now I'm regretting it as I really haven't got room for any more cream in the cupboard but clearly have to try the Maca root.

The little Bodyshop brush with the wooden handle is a bargain BTW and lives in my travel bag.

And the Maca Root is the rain forest Viagra.

Ahh, that's why my new brush feels so hard and stiff

Um, I only a new DEer here, but I've always used Body Shop stuff.

Really like the new Maca Root cream ( ooh almost another double entendre :001_smile )

Only other thing I've used is Col Conk Soaps and the BS is much easy to work with than the soap, but that's probably just lack of experience.

I bought some of this today in a set with their synthetic brush, a nice magnifying mirror, and some of their 'razor relief' cream. It was on sale for $33.75 and they were having a Mother's Day special if you spent $35(which it was after tax), you got a nice women's toiletry bag with a buch of small size product samples. And the lady at the register was nice enough to toss a tube of their 'White Musk' ASB in the bag for me(it was marked $17!!!). I'll give it a try tomorrow. I actually really like the brush. I usually use a boar brush. The last synthetic I checked out was not very good. This one has nice bacbone like my boar brushes, but the tips are very very soft. And it doesn't smell of dead animal, lol. Review to follow in the AM.:001_smile

*edit* Here's a pic of the set I got.

today I popped on over to the Bodyshop and picked up a tube based on recommendations here. all I can say is, wow. this cream really does the trick and i'd have to rate it up there with proraso and jm frasers. the smell is a little more tolerable than the jm frasers but the bonus for me was how quickly it lathered up once I worked my brush into it. with my proraso and jm frasers I've found that I have to work at it to get a nice lather (but not much), the maca root turned into a nice frothy lather within seconds. i'm kinda wishing I bought the $16 tub rather than the $10 tube

This is one of the best creams I've tried to date. Scent is subjective and it seems to be a love it or hate it scent (like Taylor's Avocado or Tabac)...I happen to fall in the love it category. I was actually turned off by the old formulation. To me it smelled like some type of womans shampoo or conditioner. Either way, this cream (in my book) is right up there with Penhaligon's, SMN, and AOS..the only difference is it's much cheaper. For $10 a tube, more folks should give it a shot.

This was my 2nd cream the 1st being C.O. Bigelow. it is definitely on par with TOBS creams. And I use this cream at least once or twice a week. The scent is meh but it is not strong enough to matter.

Which is what I and a number of other people try to point out on various occasions. Granted, the scent can be a bit of hit or miss, but the fact is that any wetshaver can get a quality shaving product for a very reasonable price by walking into a store which has a large and worldwide retailer network. This is what makes it the best cream out there, in my opinion: the availability is unparalelled.

that was part of the appeal for me....that I could just hop on over to the Bodyshop and pick up a tube rather than order it online. I don't mind waiting for shaving stuff to arrive in the mail but when I fancy trying something right away it's good to know there are retailers out there that carry stuff I would use

YES! That cream is outstanding, but NOPE, it has not the very best performance/availability ratio: you've forgotten the Palmolive Euro Classic...:tongue_sm

No, seriously, I love TBS Maca Root, nice cushion, good slickness, very soft if not even moisturizing, big tub for the price... And stop kidding me with the scent: first and foremost, the scent is WEAK/FAINT, then if you really get your sniffer in high-sensibility mode, you'd find it clean, fresh and OK, I would confess, somewhat akin to laundry detergent...
What I mean here is I like the scent (not love or rave, LIKE) but truly cannot understand how on earth some here are offended by it.
Anyway, I DO LOVE the cream on the whole.

Come on; don't be a snob and treat yourself with a mass-market wonder!!:001_rolle

Apart from the fragrance, not sure there's much of a difference between the Body Shop cream and some of the other Creighton's creams, say the Real Shaving Company cream.

Anyway, it's still great cream.

This is my go to cream, kind of forgiving in some ways for my newbie lathering techniques which is good.

Matter of fact I'm going to have a shave now with some :)

Since I used the last of my EJ cream, which I ordered with the brush, it is now time for me to jump on the bandwagon and try this cream. The appealing part is the one can pick it up at the store just like Bigelow at BBW.

I changed from multi blade shaving to D.E. just over a year ago. I used Trumper's Rose soap in the first instance and a cheap Wilkinson brush. When the soap ran out, went to TBS Maca as my daughter is a rep. At the same time bought a badger brush, which, I must confess was a cheap one from ebay. I have to say, this cream, the brush & a merkur razor gives me an excellent shave! I have been trying out a sample pack of blades, inc Feather, the jury is still out on best blade!

I have used some samples of the new scent and I agree it is something that I could get used to. That is not exactly a ringing endorsement, though.

Scent aside, it is a good cream.

I forgot to ask, does the scent linger or is it gone with the post-shave face rinse?

It is gone immediately.

I think it is a very good cream, but the whole Body Shop aura is too earthy to me. I can see its appeal to some, but I am partial to the older English and Italian traditional recipes. And VdH.
