Body Shop Maca Root Cream - Lovers / Haters ... ?

I have now given a few go's at shaving with Maca Root cream (in the tub). The scent hasn't grown on me yet. It does whip up into a very nice, foamy lather. And it feels VERY slick to my skin - in fact it is difficult (like Cella) to rinse off my fingers to make sure I don't slip with the razor. HOWEVER, it seems that every time I shave with this cream I end up with razor burn and weepers - something I typically don't experience. (Kind of a bummer since I ordered way too much of the stuff!)

Has anyone else found that despite the lovely slickness to this cream, that it somehow doesn't protect the skin well during the shave?

As always, thanks gents!

I have tried a few samples of it some time back and its an excellent cream, good fragrance, skin care and excellent performer. Problem for me is that its a bit expensive at the local Body Shops here, around $30 per 200ml tub, almost double the usual price. I can get GFT for that kind of money.

I really like that cream. The scent is nothing to write home about, but the performance is great.
Around here, it costs around ~€12.

Try to use a little more cream to make the lather thicker and more protective. Maybe that will help.

Fence on this one.

A thirsty lather I find it does provide some protection but there's others in my rotation that are easier...

My wife picked me up a sample but I never tried it. It smelled so much like laundry detergent that I couldn't bear to lather up with it.

Works well for me, got a great shave from it yesterday using my muhle r41 with an astra sp. I actually enjoy the smell, I have the larger container.

+1 It was one of the first soaps I tried. I find it works well. I'm now on my second tub.

YMMV here. I'm from the minority that like the scent. The lather it produces is not in my top 10 list. I've used a couple of 200 ml tubs.

I really enjoyed the scent and performance of this cream. I barely used any product and got a very rich, thick, and slick lather. The only problem was that it burned my face a bit more than I found comfortable. What a shame. I gave it to my brother to use, it works fine with him (he lathers it on his face with no brush). It's so unfortunate that my skin didn't like it... I miss it...

One of the best performing products I have ever tried. The scent for me is take it or leave it territory, nothing great or bad about it. I'm still working on a tub and when that runs out I'll get the tube, as I don't plan on getting any more creams in tubs.

The Maca Root cream is my first shaving cream. So DFSDAILY, why would you avoid tubs of cream? Just curious to know your reasons.

Scent in the bottom 10% of all of Shavedom. But then, I can't stand the smell of Tabac, either. Yeah. I'm that guy.

Having so many different products I find the tubs are more prone to drying out, with the tubes the product stays fresher longer in my expierience.

Ah, thank you. That's good to know. I reckon that if you're dedicated to a single tub, you'd probably be ok. But then, who only uses one kind of shaving cream/soap, right? :)
