What's new

Boardwalk Empire.

I have also been looking forward to it since they started showing commercials for it on HBO. Steve Buschemi is awesome.

Steve is awesome, and this show looks fantastic! I love HBO. True blood, Hung, Entourage, the Pacific, band of brothers... so much good stuff!

The only bad thing about this show is that they started showing the previews so early and I've been made to wait for so long!! :tongue_sm

Yep...have seen the previews and am anxiously awaiting the show...and considering it looks like Steve Buscemi is the lead actor it should be great, as is pretty much everthing he has ever done...

Steve Buscemi looks like a mouse and 1920's music is annoying.

That said, I enjoyed the premiere and I want to see the rest of it.

My sister's son and daughter are in BE as extras. I don't have HBO , but I will have to watch the programs my sister records.

This was much better and engrossing that I thought it would be.

It's a big confusing at first, because it's hard to match faces and names, but I'm sure it will get easier.

And it certainly has some of that "Sopranos" vibe to it.

The pilot was directed by Martin Scorcese, and, personally, I think it's his most exciting "cinematic" directing work since "Goodfellas."

Yes, the show is dominated by Steve Buscemi's ugliness.

I did think it was pretty good. I will definitely watch the rest of the season and give it a chance. HBO seems in dire need of a good show. Currently I am more of a fan of Showtime's series.

I though it was excellent, but then I enjoy Buscemi's work quite a bit. And gangster movies/shows.

Did anybody notice the close up of his shoes during the opening theme song?

We were pretty pissed about what happened to the Jimmy Darmody character at the end of last season, and are still afraid that the show will suffer because of it. I didn't understand a few things that happened in last night's season two premier. I do like that new character Gyp Rosetti. Hope he sticks around long enough to stir things up.

Killing Jimmy was almost as bad as killing off Ned on Game of Thrones. However, there is one thing that may make it salvageable.

In The Godfather, Virgil Sollozzo had the good sense to kill Luca Brasi while attempting the hit on Vito Corleone. Last night, Nucky neglected to remove Richard Harrow from the equation before killing Jimmy, and now you can ask Munya how that's working out.

I was too but I wasn't as shocked as when Munya killed his wife... Now that was shocking. Remember he always kept telling Eli how blood runs thicker than water and obviously, he believed Eli instead of a Jimmy. As far as the series suffering because of it, well, as you could see last night, Nucky isnt half gangster anymore, plus he's just so charismatic.

I feel I don't understand some things sometimes either but then its clarified in another episode. Was something in particular you didn't get? I think there was something I didn't understand last night either but I forgot what it was.

IMO it wasn't as shocking as Ned's killing. I remember thinking and saying to myself, "it's just Sansa having a nightmare" and being in denial for a full month.

Not killing Richard the same night they offed Jimmy was kind of a plot hole IMO because 1. He's an out of towner, so nobody would've cared 2. Nucky knew how loyal he was to Jimmy. But yeah, ask Manny how not killing Richard worked out, lol.

I don't like that Gyp Rosetti cat, he's just too vicious and too much of a cursing loudmouth, he shouldn't last long in the series.
