Boar brush - cut off the bristle

I have this vintage boar bristle with the original loft of 70mm high :scared:
I want to get it down to some human propotions - I don't want to use it for painting my bathroom, only for shaving :a4:
So, is it possible to make an even cut off on this monster and how to do it ? :sob:

From what I gather, it is not recommended to cut the bristles. The hairs won't split at the ends after they're cut, so your brush will stay stiff and prickly at the tips. I'm sure someone with more knowledge/experience could chime in to further explain it, but from what I've heard, you should probably not try it.

Tweezers, super-glue, and a magnifying glass. Just kidding. I have also heard that the tips will not split if you cut off the ends. A new knot is probably your best option.

You could steam it to pull out the knot and trim the length from the back side. This would involve re-doing the plug and then re-setting the knot in the handle.
