Bluebird vs. turkish Perma-Sharp Super

Hi folks!

Has someone here shaved with both of these blades and can describe how these compare one to another? Which one of these blades do you prefer?

I would be glad if someone could post his experience with these. Thank you for your time.

hmmmm...I will have to try the permas....I really like the bluebirds...so far my second fave next to a feather...alway willing to try something new!! thanks for the info!!

I was going to start another thread addressing the same issue; +1 for Google search.

Here's my dilemma: I can only afford to buy one brand of blades in bulk, as I'm staring down an uncertain financial future ahead of me. As much as I like the Personna Prep blades, they're too expensive for me right now. After trying different blades, comparing prices and reading through several reviews and different threads here on B&B, I've narrowed my choices down to Bluebird and Perma-Sharp Super blades. Keep in mind that I've tried neither blade.

Staring down the financial apocalypse, which blade would you rather have?

I can pif you a box of both so you can see for yourself. We can only tell you which one we prefer. PM your address when interested.

If you decide to buy Perma-Sharps then order the blades in the cardbox dispenser. The blades in the plastic dispenser are good blades, but I find the blades that come in the cardboxes better, sharper.

Not used either, but Permasharps are pretty pricey. If cost is a consideration, why not go for Astra Superior Platinums? You can get 100 Astra SPs for $US14.85 shipped to your door, whereas the Permasharps are almost double the price.

On eBay, I found a vendor from Turkey who is selling 50 for $12.99 + free shipping. Most of the time, I only need to shave every other day, so I look at 50 blades as 100 blades.

They are the kind that's in the plastic dispenser, though.

That's the same vendor as I listed, Bestshave, only his prices are slightly higher on eBay because he has to pay eBay's commission. Buy direct and save a couple of bucks.

An interesting discussion for me as well.

I tried my 1st Blue Bird yesterday (thanks Xillion) and had a heck of a good shave.

Then upon a bit more research I read where they were the same as Derbys.

I have had a terrible experience with Derbys as to consistency so I wonder if Blue Birds would have the same problems.

Based upon yesterdays shave, I would have gone out and bought 100 Blue Birds, like I did with Derbys. Then when they turned on me, I PIFed them all away.

Kinda leery of Blue Birds now so I might try the Perma Sharps.

They are made by the same plant. AFAIK they have not changed the specs for BlueBird, so I see no reason why you should not buy some if you like them.
