BlueBird surprise.

i've been working my way through a sample blade pack and tried BlueBirds tonight and was quite honestly shocked by these blades. I was on the fence about these blades because i haven't heard much talk about them around here (maybe i just havent been paying attention). The first pass was a little rough, had to rinse quite often and noticed some clogging, a little tugging on my neck and cheeks, but no bleeding. i lathered again and did a 2nd pass ATG and the outcome was superb! 2 little weapers that a cold water rinse took care of. and they passed my finger test...using the back of my index finger and running it ATG on my face to feel for stubble. NO STUBBLE! BBS shave from these blades! adding them to my rotation for sure. (im thinking that these blades would work even better with only 1 days growth, to avoid the tugging)

anyone else like BlueBirds?

*** my blade testing technique: 2 days beard growth, merkur 34C razor, Bigelow cream, boar brush, 1st pass WTG 2nd pass ATG, Proraso AS. i haven't changed anything about my routine as i want to keep the results purely about the blade. I've tested Feather, Gillette 7 o'clock (russia green box), Astra SP, Bic, and tonight was the BlueBird.

ME. I just tried them for the first time last week. They're not as sharp as some other blades, but I think thats what I like about them. I even could go against the grain on my neck with little tugging and irritation. I have very sensitive skin with sharp blades. They're a very smooth, mild blade. For me they required more passes but that was perfectly fine with me as more passes were still very comfortable. Im using a Merkur Progress on setting 3, and then cranked it down to a 1-1.5 against the grain and we were good.

completely agree. they are not as sharp as say Feathers, but thats not a bad thing at all, Feathers mowed 2 days growth down like it was nothing, but left me with a few weapers. i have a thick coarse beard, as i said i had to rinse often but the outcome is well worth the extra few minutes of the shave.

I'm THAT GUY that only uses a blade one time. I tried using an Astra SP more than once and i felt like the shaving experience just wasn't as good as the first. IMHO DE blades are cheap enough so why subject myself to a subpar shaving experience. It does seem like everyone here uses blades more than once. but im a one shave and out guy.

I purchased a hundred of them and haven't regretted my purchase. I think they are overall a very nice and balanced blade. On this particular roadtrip that I am on...I brought 2 packs of Bluebirds and 2 packs of Astra SPs.

I've used them with no complaints. I think they are sharper than some. Like Samjax said..balanced. I purchased on ebay for about $15 per 100.

Interesting. I specifically went into this forum to see what people were saying about Blue Birds.

I tried one for the first time today and got a beautiful, irritation free shave. Very pleasant indeed. I am thinking that this may be the blade for me. Good to know that others see the same thing.

Cheers.

Bluebirds have also been a really good blade for me, and go together with Feathers, Gillette Yellows, and Perma-sharp Supers as part of my regular rotation. I find them to in the upper third or so of blades in sharpness and, particularly after the first shave, quite smooth. I get 5-6 nice shaves from a usual Bluebird blade.
