What's new

Blown away... Creed

So I stopped into Niemann Marcus to check out the Creed scents... Wow - was I impressed. They were incredibly smooth and very classy. Not sure if it is the halo effect, but I was truly impressed.

The 3-4 I pinned down as favorites were Original Vetiver, Original Santal, GIT and Virgin Island Water... The guy had a sample of the Windsor I could try, which seemed quite "regal".

I decided not to buy there, but I did pick up their last GIT Shaving Soap. I noticed that the Creed Boutique website lists Vetiver and Santal as new scents for their shaving soap.

I'm sure this new discovery isn't going to be cheap!

I dont want to say word to the wise...but definitely try to pick up as many samples as possible. The scents are fabulous, but definitely have a longevity problem. I cant really complain as I have eight different scents. For my money, I coulr really live with GIT for the rest of my life. Such a classic clean scent.

GIT and Vetiver are amazing. For me, the Bois du Portugal is the absolute BOMB!!

I e-mailed Creed about samples and they had the local Neiman Marcus send me a sample pack. Good thing I did too, because none of Creed's scents last longer than an hour or two on me. That is too bad because I really, really like Green Irish Tweed, but cannot see myself spending that type of money to smell good for an hour or two.

Bois Du Portugal is the only one I own and the staying power is not bad but not great.I only wear on special events and the scent usually last thru them.

Hi there, this is my first post. I joined not too long ago. Anyways, I have Creed myself and I have to say that it is one of the best, pure class!! Original Vetiver.

I would suggest any of the Hermes range. I feel both brands are expensive to many of the others out there, but I find that both are great.

Check out Bois du Portugal, Millesime Imperial, Royal English Leather, and Royal Scottish Lavender. A darkhorse fragrance is Baie de Genievre, and Royal Water is very excellent citrus/basil scent. Original Santal was lame for me and Virgin Island Water on my skin was basically sugar water which was quite different from the complexity I smelled on the paper strip. Always get samples and test on your skin to see if you like it because skin chemistry affects how it smells on you. I feel the longevity problems of Creed are a concern but I also find a concern that the wearer can lose sensitivity to the smell over time and other people can still smell it pounding away when you think it's gone.

Bois de Portugal lasts 12 hrs on me. Santal & Vetiver a few hours. I just recently tried orange Spice which lasted about 8 hrs.
Creed has some long lasting colognes but everyone is different.

Back to the OP, seems to me that Creed is seductive, somehow. Also, and perhaps a part of this, that I like Creeds more the first time I smell them, and they may not hold up as something I want to own and use all the time. This is not true across the board as to Creeds. There are Creeds among my top ten of all time scents, I would say. But I am a bit cautious with Creeds that I am not seduced and abandoned!

They do smell to me, clean, expensive, natural, and modern. (At least where they should be modern. The is nothing modern about Vetiver 1948 for instance! They are very rarely the least bit off putting. I do not generally have to grow to like Creeds.)

Creed is all over the map in terms of longevity and style. I would bet you would be quite hard pressed to find NOTHING that you like from this house as it is so versatile.

Even with some of their scents that I don't particularly enjoy, I can still tell they are made from a whole different class of ingredients than department store or drugstore classics. Not knocking the classics, but this is a whole different ballgame.

Some Creeds will last several hours on me, others will disappear within a few hours. They all really vary one to the next and the only way to find out what works for you, as others have mentioned, is to sample.

I do recommend sampling with an atomizer if at all possible, because in certain circumstances, this can change the longevity of the juice vs. a dab from a non atomized decant.

For me, Creed juice that lasts on my skin and I really enjoy:

Vintage Tabarome
Tabarome Millesime
Windsor
Bois Du Portugal
Royal English Leather
GIT

After I tried a few, I fell in love with GIT and Millesime Imperial. GIT is my go-to signature scent now, so much so that I got the soap, aftershave, shaving soap (MB's Dublin Tweed) to match!

Now that it's cold, though, these two bottles are getting a much needed rest.
