Blades you prefer in your SLANT

Gentlemen,

What blades do you prefer in your slants? I am finding certain blades have magic powers in a slant, and less so in your standard fare.

I am interested in your experiences.

My favorite in the 37C Slant is the Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum in the Black package from India. It is super smooth in the slant.

When I used to have a slant, the only blade that performed well for me was the Feather. Granted, at that time I hadn't tried the 7 o'clock yellows - so I can't speak for them in the Slant, though they work well for me in my other razors now. Sadly, because of this exact reason, I gave my slant (and small supply of Feathers) to a friend whose beard required the Feather blade - I couldn't justify keeping the razor when it required blades that cost 3 times as much. Needless to say, he is a very happy man now!

Merkur 39c Slant Barberpole (sledgehammer) with Feather blades. Being a straight shaver for a couple of years, for me the more aggressive, the better. This combination is magical.

I use with the slant 7 o clock yellow, 7 oclock black platinum and gillettes bleue extra.
Slant razors need very sharp blades.

Merkur 39C with Feathers. Fell in love at first shave.

I have a Red Tip and a Super Speed Adjustable I haven't even tried yet because I'm so happy with the slant, but I intend to test both just for fun.

+1 This a thread topic I have been wanting to start for some time and never got around to. I'm glad you did :thumbup1: So far nothing has worked better for me than Gillette super thin's. About two weeks ago I had one of the best shaves I've had to date with my 37c and a super thin. I used Tabac soap and AS (in celebration of Tabactober of course) and it was magical.

I used one today about an hour ago and I was impressed. I has a really good shave with some irritation on my neck but I attribute that to the poor lather I used and the fact that I was in a bit of a rush. I will be trying this again.

I just started using a Red Tip a few weeks ago just to see what it was like and see if it was as aggressive as everyone said. Used a Super thin like I do in my slant and was not very happy with the result. I gave it another try with a Irridium and had great results. For the fist time since I got my slant about a year ago it has company. Definitely worth a try.

I like Kai blades in my slants. Feathers a close second. They're a little pricey for me though, and I get good results with cheaper blades in my other razors, so I'm experimenting with some of them in the slants currently. The blue pack IPs aren't bad in the slant, but not quite up to a Kai or a Feather in my experience.

I have a vintage Hoffritz slant which seems suited to Feathers and NOS Gillette Bleue Extra. A nice easy two pass with touch ups = BBS for me:w00t:

I've been thinking of getting a slant and I'm very happy to hear that you guys are using Feathers,Gillette 7 o'clock yellows and Bleue extras NOS as these are 3 of my favourite blades.

The Astra Superior Platinums and Red Pack Personna blades work the best for me in my 39C and 37G.

The shaves are consistently good, smooth, and long lasting.

I use Red IPs with great success on a Hoffritz slant. I haven't used feathers yet on the slant cause Ive been so happy with the IPs in every razor that I have! The feather blades work well in my feather all stainless although the first shave is a little rough... I'm gonna give it a go in the slant and see
