Blade singing.

Been reading a lot of posts that mention the sound the blades make as they cut the hairs. Unfortunately, I am mostly deaf and cannot hear the blade song. However, I can feel the song in my fingers via vibrations through the handles. I cannot describe it well enough but I have learned the bad blade songs and the good blade songs vibrations. The Schick Krona's plastic handle seriously screws up my reception of the song. My metal handle razors however transmit he the blade song clearly.....

Does anyone else rely on the blade song vibrations through the handle?

I've suffered some hearing loss over the years but nothing approaching deafness (my wife may not share my opinion). It's my impression that the blade song's manifestation is through both means and I do find myself using it to judge the effectiveness of the stroke. With some razors the auditory manifestation predominates; with others it is vibratory. With any razor that sings 'sotto voce' I depend on the communication from the handle. I suppose it's sort of listening by braille.

I use the song for feedback but I think feel is more important. You can actually pick up on those subtle nuances through the handle, like if the blade is jumping or tugging. I think you have a big advantage in that case.

It also lets me know if I am shaving in such a way that I will have burn when I use the Alum.
