The best blade I have found so far is the Astra SP. The Super Iridiums are a close second. Also tried Feathers, Derbys, Gillette Yellows but none of them work as well as the Astra SPs. Of course YMMV.

I thought the Astra was the best blade I'd found for my Superspeed...so hopefully I have a couple left to try in my new shaver.

For me, the Iridium Supers pair brilliantly with my Muhle R109 (same head as EJ89).

Sharks! I've tried Iridium Supers with em and they work okay too.
I have had great results with Red Personnas, Shark Super Chromes, and Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless blades. I've found that Crystals are also pretty good.

The Asian Super Thins work wonderful for me as well as feathers.
Iridiums, 7 O'clock SharpEdge, 7 O'clock Super Platinum, and Timors have all worked well in my DE89L.
Feathers for me.

there are sharper blades, but i find the astra platinum to be a rare combination of sharpness, smoothness and affordability.

Good---I've liked Astra SP's but haven't yet loaded one into my razor...so this is encouraging. Have to give it a try tonight.
I just received this razor and I will be starting with derbys.
