I put in a new Gillette o'clock blue last night, and it was actually sticking out the sides on both ends of my EJ DE89L. Does this happen a lot, Are those blades longer than most? My Astra SP fit perfectly, but this had excess on both ends. I am thinking next shave I will try another one of them and see if it it's the same . Maybe that one blade was a production anomaly???

I find this happens with every brand of blade I've tried in my Merkur 34C HD.

I also suspect that it is normal with the EJ, and that you just haven't noticed it before.
Most would stick out of the EJ89. There are only a few modern DE razors that cover the whole blade.
Agreed that every blade I've used has stuck out the ends of my EJ89. I also had one 7 O'Clock blue recently that stuck out a bit further than usual on one end. It had sharp corners instead of the usual rounded and was definitely longer than the other end. Maybe it's a quality control issue? Didn't cause any real issues, just had to be a little more careful near my nose.
