Blade Dispenser?

I like having lots of blades and enjoy rotating the blades daily or every other day. I don't like having a bunch of 5 or 10 pack blade dispensers floating around my bathroom though.

Is there a blade dispenser that would allow me to load up about 50 or 100 blades at a time and then just dispense the next one in line? A link to such a product would be appreciated or if you figured out how to make one yourself.

Alternatively, when I finally figure out what blade I want to stick with, is there a manufacturer that sells bulk blades in a dispenser without the wax paper on them? It seems like a bit of a waste throwing out all the little bits of paper. I like the dispenser that comes with the CVS or Walmart blades, but something on a larger scale.

I've never seen anything like that. Doesn't sound like a very good idea to me honestly. Having that many blades all together and unprotected from moisture, you might end up with some ruined blades by the time you got halfway through the stack. Bathrooms are inherantly high moisture areas after all.

What about something along the lines of this http://ace.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pACE-978551dt.jpg but upside down or if you have any carpentry skills get some strips of wood and make a rectangle box with the inside dimensions of a DE blade IN the wrapper and hang it up on the wall. Make a slit in the bottom so only 1 blade comes out at a time and a litte thumb notch under the slit where the blade comesout so you can grab it. I can see it in my head now but something old school barbershop-ish made from metal would be wicked cool IMO... maybe your a metal kind of guy :biggrin1:

I suppose you could stuff your own blades back into one of the plastic containers that discount store razor blades come in, just mix them up a little bit. I think the same 5-pack container from Dollar General is used to hold 10 blades in other outlets, maybe even a few more. That would be a month of shaves quite easily.

For quantities of 5-15 blades, old Schick dispensers are easy to refill. Metal Gillette packs are relatively tractable, too.

From what I have read, the factory will put a hundred or so blades onto a spindle, after sharpening but before packaging. Apparently the Israel-made Personnas now leave the factory on spindles like that, and are wrapped and packed in Mexico. One of those spindles sounds like what you are looking for, but I would not know how to obtain it.

This is what I do with (I assume) is a repackaged Meijer/Personna Red dispenser. I can fit about 15 blades in and still dispense them fairly easily, and there's a slot on the bottom to quickly stash the used blades. Much quicker and easier than dealing with the packaging at each blade change.

I refill blade dispensers, but not for my use....the wife insists on them, but she wants Sharks.

I'm not sure about hi-cap blade dispenser, not only for the valid reasons stated above, but it would probably soon be illegal in California.

My blade storage solution is my wife's old jewelry box. Lots of little drawers for packs of blades, the side compartments that were built for necklaces now house carded styptic pencils.

There is this tilt-open section that is supposed to be used to hold rings. I just slip my "on-deck" blades in there, still in the wrapper. Makes choosing a new blade kind of an event.

Combined with my repainted bread box for holding razors and aftershaves, I have a pretty organized, very functional, and somewhat redneck den.

Wow! this is beautiful, truly spectacular. not sure it meets the OP's intent but I've got serious DE organziation evy!! LOL

Oh, it suits my purposes, but I'm a piker compared to some of the craftsmen who have made their own cabinets and such and posted the beautiful results, and there are photos of vast collections organized and displayed in such an eye catching manner that can be found on this forum that are so spectacular they helped cure my RAD....I came to realize that I'd never catch up!

Texquill's Old Spice collection springs to mind....

Anyway, the jewelry box thing works really well, and my wife was glad to donate the old one after I bought her the one she really wanted. It's actually all her idea.

I stuffed my blade dispensers as full as I could with random blades for now, but I think I might have to manufacture something that does what I want. I guess I'll keep the blades in the paper though to avoid cuts and rust.

I use plastic divider boxes like the ones used for small fishing tackle, and they work great. I keep them in a closet outside the bathroom, so they don't sit in a humid environment.$IMG_0317.jpg$IMG_0320.jpg$IMG_0318.jpg
