Blade Angle on some razors

After many blades tested with my Muhle R89, I found a few blades out there that were really smooth and good quality blades, but it simply feels like the angle my R89 allows them to touch the skin with is a bit too steep. The angle between face and blade should be a bit shallower to actually allow them to cut more comfortably in some zones under the chin.
One of those blades is Perma Sharp, and is one of my top blades. I also used this blade in a open comb with a huge blade exposure, and it shaved like a dream. Aggressive razor indeed, but was awesome to see it cutting stubble so easy. This razor allowed for a shallower angle between face and blade, so it shave much much easier. So my answer became obvious, the angle a blade touches the skin can be very important, and some razors simply don't allow for that.

So, as the time approaches to buy a new razor, the question is, what should I buy? The old open comb razor that I got is really really old, and the teeth it has are fairly scratching my skin too much, I can't really stick to it, is just too old and I have to get over it.

I have in my head a list like this:
Merkur Vision, Merkur Futur, Gillette Slim, Gillette Fatboy, Gillette Tech, Slant. I am thinking that with fatboy and with slim I won't get the shallow angle that I need. Am I right?

Which of those razors should allow shallowest angle of attack between blade and face, or if there is another razor that can do better then those, please let me know.

Maybe there are other answers to my problem, but I am fairly confident that is the angle at which the blade can touch the skin causing a blade to not cut easy. The gap also affects the effectiveness, but I don't think is the most important in my case. Anyone can help with this?

If the open comb teeth are scratching your skin, the blade angle is too steep. A lot of tooth tracks in your lather also mean the blade angle is too steep.

Lowest angle is going to come from any SE razor. They shave at 10° whereas the typical DE shaves at a 30° angle

Yes, and when they touch my skin is too damaging due to not having them in great condition.
However, when I shave ATG under my chin I make the angle shallower, and I can shave properly. With R89 I can't do that in those spots with this blade.

Any razors out there that have shallower attack angle then mine?

I got a shavette to try and probably I will also try a real straight at some point, but for now I want to know what DE razor I would be best to buy. I doubt I will be able anytime soon to use a SE for every shave, probably I will do weekend shave with straight for a very long time, and the rest of the time I will use my DE.

My first SE (single edge razor) just arrived in the mail today, but they only take special single edge blades which I now need to buy.

While I have little experience, I recommend the slant. I am not sure the angle is steeper, but it does easily produce a close shave. Merkur currently is the only producer of new slant razors. However, I believe the German Ebay often has vintage slants for sale, and you may be able to find one with an open comb.

You can scratch off every one of those on your list with the exception of maybe the Tech. As Turtle said an SE is pretty dang shallow. But the drawback is you don't have as many choices in blade selection. Once you have more experience like Turtle you can get BBS with any razor. Remember it's seldom the tool but rather the operator. Good luck in your search.

In my opinion there is a huge difference between being able to get all the stubble under the jaw line with 1 single swipe during the ATG pass, or to need 3-5 swipes to actually reach the moment when all stubble is gone.
And this difference was only made by razor, due to not having a shallow enough angle. (I tested same blade in 2 different razors).

I read somewhere that when you need multiple swipes to clean a zone, assuming you tried all angles possible, and stretched the skin properly, then you need a more aggressive razor. This is what I read all over the internet, and I believe it to be true.

So Gillette tech should be one? What other razors should I consider? (I know about SE, but for now I am sticking to DE since my birthday is close and I can't decide so fast if to buy a se or not).
