Blackberry memory issues

Gents, I have a Bold that I have coveted for 2 years. Lately, I have had to reset the BB because of the mindless hourglass appearing when I use a function. I have deleted programs I no longer use as well as themes and games. The available memory fluctuates from 0 to 13mbs.

Any suggestions before I throw this out the window?

I have had similar issues with the Bold, going on almost 2 years now, although I have not gotten the spinning hourglass. I have received alerts that there is no/low memory, deleted a whole bunch of stuff, reset, to no avail. It works, but doing much more than e-mail and phone, it's pretty much a dud for me.

I've considered upgrading the OS to Vers. 5.0 that is not available through AT&T but I'm a little leery about it. It is supposed to improve battery life and memory leakage.

I used another BB in the past that was just rock solid, with no problems. The Bold looks great, has a great keyboard, etc. But this has to be the weirdest smartphone I've used, including iPhones and Treos. Memory leaks, intermittant dropouts from the network, failure to sync with the BB Enterprise server (forcing battery removal and re-boot), a battery that drains when powered OFF..... You name it, and it's been an adventure. I will think twice about getting another BB when upgrade time comes around.

I thought about that but the I4 has enough of it's own problems. I will probably wait and get the BB Torch. It runs on a better OS and has more memory.

It depends

Here in Canada, there is barely no "grip of death" issue

Same thing with some people I know who live in Chicago and NY

I think it may have to do with ATT coverage

Well when I was running a Bold 9000 I ran the latest OS5 over at the Bold Section of Crackberry and it ran fine. But I have moved on over to Android! Samsung Captivate *Galaxy S for att* and I love the phone. The Torch I wanted to love it because of the webkit but sadly still running the same cpu as the bold 9000, bold 9700 is Sad when even the iPhone 4 and high end Android phones are already running 1 ghz cpus. Plus by the 15th ATT will have 3x 1 Ghz Android Phones. On the 12th Dell Streak *5 inch table/phone Android* and on the 15th Sony's Xperia X10A will be running a 1 Ghz CPU. I still say the Samsung Captivate is the better choice for the price. As for the screen resolution the Torch is lower then iPhone and Android as well as the screen size is smaller too being a 3.2 inches on the Torch, 3.7 inch on the iPhone and High end Android has 3.7 - 5 inch screens.

HTH,
