Black Tea aftershave Splash?

Hello everyone, I am a big tea drinker and my favorite tea happens to be Irish Breakfast tea. I have seen green tea sented aftershaves and colognes and soaps(I have some RazoRock Boston tea party soap) but I have yet to come across a black tea sented aftershave. At my work today I bought a 8oz glass bottle (It looks the same as the Ogallala bottles but mine does not have a lil flow limiting things on it and mine is brown) so i was wondering if someone has a easy good aftershave splash recipe that is sented with black tea. But to note I am 19 so unless i can use some of my parents vodka I will most likely not be able to get my hands on any alcohol. But from my memory i have never seen a black tea sented EO so I will be using some real loose leaf tea that I have. Also does anyone know if there is a was i could limit the flow of the bottle i can post photos( when ever i find my sd card adapter)

Thank You
M

Update: Tomorrow I am going to go out to wal-mart and buy some witch hazel(the one that has alcohol in it) and glycerin. I plan on attempting making a black tea aftershave splash. I am going to make a concentrated oz or 2 of black tea ( as in use a full tea spoon of tea for 1 or 2 oz of water so that it is super concentrated and will be diluted with the witch hazel) to hopefully provide the sent. If that does not work then I might have to go on the hunt for a black tea EO. I will post my results once I have tried it hopefully I will get my order of some arko products in the mail tomorrow.

I don't know about black tea aftershave, but you should visit our Cafe forum, where you'll find oodles of info on tea.

Well so far my results are well not that great. As all of us big tea drinkers and well coffe drinkers for that matter know is that tea has a aroma and when it is cold it looses that aroma. I just brewed 2 heaping tablespoons of tea and added it to 2ozs boiling water and then diluted it with 6 oz of water( i dont have any unsented whitch hazel yet so the dilution is to act like when the recipe is finished) and while it smells like tea it does not have a strond sent. If only i had the tools to make EOs lol. I do not want to waste my nice loose leaf teas so I am still wondering how the witch hazel may effect the scent I.E. act as some kind of carrier of the sent(yes i know everyone says witch hazel stinks). It might end up like my razorock boston tea party soap which i find to have a light tea sent. even if the sent does not come through when i make the real batch tomorrow at least witch hazel with some glycerin will make a good aftershave. I know that with certain aftershave recipes the spices used are infused for long period of time in the liquid so I am still trying to figure it all out. I will be updating with more results later.

Regularfella That might work due to the fact that the tea would infuse into the witch hazel but in a sense it would be the same result as before( im guessing). Sun tea aka refridgerator iced tea is a slow way of brewing tea. The thing is that cold kills aromas when it comes to tea so im still trying to figure out how to enhace the aroma. The hardest part is the sent anyone can make something that preforms good take arko as a example. Arko is a soap that everone knows preforms well but not everyone likes the sent. I am trying to get the sent to stand out and it is proving difficult seeing how I dont know of Black tea EO. Also the pictures below are of the bottle I plan on using.

WhiskerWacker: well The problem is that the camellia sinensis is turned into many types of tea. Just to name a few green tea, black tea, and Oolong tea are all from the same plant and are going to all taste and smell diffrent and I feel that the if there is a tea EO(not tea tree that something diffrent) which there prolly is then it will most commonly be green tea. Now if you happen to find a place i can buy black tea EO online at a good price ( I have a limited budget) then i might just try that.

How about this- http://www.shopsaison.com.au/products/534/geodesis-black-tea-essential-oil

or this- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Tea-O...t-Oils-5-fl-oz-15-ML-/230671643374#vi-content

This thread from basenotes might also be of use to you if you want to make an AS using a fragrance that smells like tea-

Thank you I found the one oz bottle and they are bid only so I think im gunna buy that .5oz bottle and test it out. I think that the EO will be alot better than the actuall tea due to the strength of the EO. So tomorow I still plan on going to get some of the ingredients and put money in the bank to order the oil.

Update: I just finished doing the order for .5oz Black tea fragrance oil from the link on ebay.(I had the enough cash in my bank account) so when it comes in I will make up a batch and shave and then use this aftershave once it has been made.

I'll brew some black orange pekoe tonight and splash it in the morning.

Okay, tell me how that works for you. Im hoping my arko order will come in the mail as I plan to do a large post about arko after I have tried it.

Cool I actually ran across that when I started my search but I was looking for more of just black tea and not leather. I do like leather dont get me wrong but not exactly what I am looking for so i decided I would just make it myself. ( I drive a Volvo S90 that has leather seats and what not)

Steeping now. I want it strong. Post details tomorrow after I use it. If it works out I'm thinking black tea and sandalwood or more prescipaly Lapsang souchong and sandalwood.

Tried it.

- 2 tea bags steeped for 30 minutes in 2 cups of water

It does tighten the skin, smells like strong tea and I would say it does work but I don't like the smell. It could leave marks all over your clothing which is another point I'd like to mention.
