From this point forward, this thread will include all superspeeds that I work on. Here's a 40's SS that I worked on for Suede. Before:

Disassembly/reassembly. I have no clue where the crud photo went showing how dirty this thing was on the inside but it was pretty bad...it was full of black grease looking stuff and the TTO was very sticky. It's all squared away now and has been sent off to Chris Evatt "RazorPlate.com" for some fresh bright nickel! I'll have to get the after photos from him when he's finished.

More Superspeeds in the queue while I wait for that Black Handled SS to return from Chris Evatt. Here's another 40's SS George86 has asked me to give a thorough cleaning:

Hey Cap, I have a question. On my 1960 Flairtip, that little ring that holds the TTO bar in... I followed the advise on the video and left it off. Partially because I couldn't get it back on, what would be the way to put it back on there? None of my needle nose pliers are long enough and I gave up.

Well, leaving the c clip out really wasn't an advisable move, just something I would do if I used a SS on a daily basis. Some of the SSs have little ears on the T bar that flare out and prevent the door rod from coming completely out so I suppose you could flare them back out but it's kinda tricky.

As for the C clip, it isn't like a spring steel so it basically bends around the door rod. Those that I have reinstalled in the past, I just used two small flat head screwdrivers and inserted them into the TTO and pressed outward on the handles to crimp the clip back on. You have to get it nice and round though as the clip travels up into the TTO knob shaft during opening and closing and any imperfection will cause a stick or catch, if you will.

I'll try that. I haven't seen a need for it because I don't open the doors so far out that that would go past the head and go unengaged.

Captain; I'm curious about how Chris will do the black handle SS because the handle (only) is aluminum.
As far as I know, he is going to re enamel the handle for this Gentleman and do the other parts in bright nickel. The neck that attaches to the head is also aluminum so that might be a little tricky. Only time will tell!

Well, I either forgot to take a disassembly photo of the inside of this SS or It magically disappeared from my gallery! It looked like all of the other 40's style SS's I have taken apart, pretty clean on the inside! Anyways, here is the finished product:

A little bit of brassing on the doors but the rest of the razor is in great shape! I absolutely love these 40's SS's, great shavers!

Here's a Ranger Tech that Kahlzarg sent me for a quick tune-up:biggrin:

This one is already in wonderful shape so we are going to take a look inside and clean the internals for future use.
