BK4. great little brush

I picked this one up from TBoner on the BST. I have to say that I am impressed with the quality of these brushes.
All I read about is how soft the tips are, and I dont know.. maybe it is this particular one, but it isnt really that soft. the very ends of it seem a little, i dunno... curled? Like the way hair looks if you singe it? Im not saying that I bought a dud from a member at all... I think that this is just how the brush is.. Whatever... so scritchiness aside... this thing is a LATHER MACHINE!!! I went ahead on a puck of Ogallala with Marco's method (sopping wet brush, load it forever) and took it to the bowl to do a test lather. BAM!

This thing just made a foam explosion. I havent really gotten good results with this soap before now, but I want to say that I just have not been using enough water. This thing holds a LOT of water (and soap). I know it is not the densest brush out there... but it sure is denser than the others that I have. And although it does not have much in the way of backbone, I didnt think it was floppy or anything. It just likes to splay. I am certainly happy with the purchase, and look forward to using it in the future. Thanks TBoner for a great transaction (not to mention the bonus items :thumbup1:)

Really nice. I'm thinking of picking up a BK4 when and if one comes up on the B/S/T, just to see how it compares size wise to my BK8. The BK8 is honestly a little bigger than I expected, but not by much. I don't have big hands, so I need something that is comfortable to use. I'll find out tomorrow when I use it for the first time with shave cream. I can't wait. I would probably only keep one brush (easy to say now), but it would depend on if the size effected the performance, how each feels, etc.

Nice addition to your stable. I think Kent makes one of the greatest brushes in the world.

Here is a B&B Badger next to it for size comparison.

But that doesnt really help you as you only have the BK8, right?

Here is THAT size comparison as well..

hope this helps

That's a great pic of the BK8 and the BK4. I'll be interested to hear how you like it after a few uses. I've read some that say it's floppier than the BK8, but that's so subjective. I'll also be interested in the "skritchiness" of your brush. Mine feels as soft and luxurious as I expected it to. The tips are soft and fluffy and when I rub it dry against my face it is very very luxurious.

Yours blooms out very nicely, compared to the one in the pic with the BK8. I love the way the look all bloomed out. Anyhow, I hope you're really happy with the brush. It's great to find something that you absolutely love and would never get rid of. I already have one or two of those things, and I haven't been at this long.

found the pic on the google. :wink2:

I just used it a few minutes ago... I want to say onces it is wet and full of lather, it is not so scritchy. However, my experience is not necessarily gospel as I bought it used so I didnt get it out of the box and caring from it since day one. However, I wouldnt say it is floppy... It does splay on the face... but I like that. Keeps the bristles from digging into the skin. Lathers like a dream... for the money, i dont think you can beat it.

As far as the blooming, the photo I posted is of the BK8 and BK4 both unbloomed. I like the way they look all bloomed out too :) My suggestion would be to pick one up and if you decide you dont love it, you can always put it up on the BST. It will certainly sell.

It is my main brush and I love it. I love the soft feel of the bristles and I can whip up a really thick lather easily from soap. It always produces well enough for four passes and a neck pass. I never tried anything bigger and I don't think I'll ever need anything bigger, honestly.

If you think it's floppy, hold the handle in the palm of your hand and pinch the bristles a little bit to hold them tighter together.
