What options are there in the Gillette DE range for the following two years ?

1942 I do not think had date codes, and were limited to war production.

1977 You can find Techs, Black Handle Superspeeds, Black handle Super Adjustable, Date Code X3.

Yup on both of these. Short of finding an intact NOS wartime Tech set -- and they do exist -- you'll probably have a hard time narrowing things down specifically to 1942. If you were able to find such a set the razor wouldn't have a date code but the blades would be coded M-4.

I'd personally go for the Super Adjustable for 1977, and I think that was the year they started doing the plastic adjustment plate on the underside of the head, which would help you visually weed out older ones straightaway.

Thanks for the assistance gentleman, now, where is it appropriate to post a WTB for a '42 kit and a Super Adjuastable , date code X3 ?
