Big Chemex

I've been looking for a new 13 cup Chemex for a while and i just wasn't willing to pay new price for a used pot. I have an eight cup but it just isn't big enough for a one pot morning and of course I couldn't possibly make two pots... This one came of Ebay for a great price. If you haven't tried one they make great coffee.

I have all of the sizes from the small 1 cup (that use the funny looking fold up filters) all the way up to the largest (and multiples of the sizes I like the best in case I drop one).

I've used them since going to college back in the early 70's and never looked back.

No, most of what I have I purchased back in the 70's and I think the kettle is newer.

They do make great coffee. I use one five days a week.

I use the Chemex square filters. I think they're one size fits all.

I wish Chemex made the 13 cup size in the new design with the handle. Since they don't I went with the 10 cup size. It's enough for us, but getting one extra mug while brewing would be nice for when company comes over.

I also find a french press, good vac pot and a vintage percolator give you some nice options for the morning cup. Turkish coffee has been one of my interests lately so the ibrik has been getting some heavy use.

I use a 2nd generation Coava Kone filter with my Chemex and love it. Way better than the paper filters. The Able version, which I tested a couple times before passing along to a friend, is also very nice - less fines, but I can't say it's a noticeable difference in the cup. I like the aesthetics of the older Kone better, so I stayed with it. Able also makes a filter for the Aeropress and a very cool glass "cap" for the Chemex.

Nice Chemex; Cool that it has the glass stopper with it. I use an 8 cup glass handled version myself, love it
