The Prunes
After throwing away about 5 almost empty and leaking bottles, this is what was left of Big Box 2 that didn't make it to Big Box 3. Sorry to say, but 10 of these items got tossed. The rest were traded for other items, mostly at the NYC meet. The box started out as a large flat rate box and ended up 3.7 times the size and about 30 lbs. It's great that people put in more than they took out, but there were things in there (like some of the items in the picture) that were better to leave out. Before you put something in, take a moment to ask yourself whether it's worth it for 10 different people to pay to ship the item, only to have it end up in the trash. I tried to find a home for them, but in the end, I couldn't bring myself to sell or PIF what was left because I didn't feel right asking someone to use them, so after a couple weeks of trying, I had a moment of strength and disposed of about a dozen items total. There were also about 8 bars of bath soap that are now under my sink, so I'll have to put something nice in the box to make up for it.
If the box gets too large, just prune out thejunk less useful items and leave the good stuff.

The Guidelines
Before you receive the box
- Subscribe To This Thread
- Pay close attention to THIS thread.
- If it is coming up on your turn, and you won't be around, let us know. Arrangements can be made to keep up the box moving and come back to you later.
- Make sure you know beforehand who you are shipping it to. Get in contact, and get contact info.
When you receive the box
- Immediately post in THIS thread that you received it.
- Take a look at what you'd like to have. If you don't want a whole bottle of cologne or an entire tube of shaving cream, decant some and leave the rest. If you want the whole thing, take the whole thing.
- Don't be shy. Take stuff out. Be generous. Fill it back up. Put in something that will make someone's day.
- Put back as much value as you took out.
- Try not to put in anything that's less than half full, especially samples, unless it's a unique, expensive, or hard to find product. It's just not worth shipping a bunch of large bottles that are mostly empty. It takes up too much space. Nor does a 1mL vial that's 1/4 full do much good for anyone.
- You may be asked to purge a few items at some point.
- Don't put common drug store items in the box. Only put in things you'd be happy to receive.
- If you don't have any shaving items another B&B member would enjoy having, find something else that B&B members enjoy: pens and tools are great.
When you're done exchanging
- If the box is getting too big, prune out the less desirable stuff, and use it or PIF.
- Ship promptly.
- Use a shipper at your own discretion. USPS Flat rate, UPS ground, Fed Ex, no one really cares who brings their box.
- CYA: get a tracking number and delivery confirmation.
When you ship the box, Post in THIS thread
- that you've shipped it
- to whom you have shipped it
- a tracking number
After you send the box
- Thank the site. Though not enforced, I highly encourage you to become a contributor and support your vendors.
