Big Ben Razor

This was something that rode along with a #15 case I bought a while back, and it ended up being a very pleasant surprise. This is obviously a knock-off of the Gillette Old Type design, and it certainly shaves like one (which is a good thing). The handle appears to be aluminum and is hollow, making it 10 grams lighter that a Single Ring (41g vs. 51g). All-in-all, a very nice razor for a tag-along!

That is a Big Ben, which is an exact copy of the Souplex. Both were produced by Souplex Ltd., Morecambe starting 1932.

Souplex also produced the Souplex Minor and the ladies razor, The Nymph.
