Bic Blades

Bic blades are very good blades for the money. Today, I just finished my 5th straight shave w/ a Bic blade. The 5th shave would have probably been ok, but it was pulling a little so I cut it off at 5 shaves. I also just received my order of 30 Bic blades from amazon. That will get me close to a half a year of shaving.

Five good shaves is average with a Bic for me; I've had a Bic go to 8 days - and I probably could have gone to 9 or 10. They're a great value for the money, IMO.

Four or five shaves seems to be the limit, which is better durability than some blades that are much more expensive. If Bic were the last blades available I'd be alright.

Bic is a great blade for me! First blade I tried that delivered a great smooth shave. It will always have a place in my rotation.

My only complaint is there's no holder for old blades on the package, but most razor seem to come that way. I just need to get a blade bank.

I shaved for well over a year with a 100 blade box of Bic Chrome Platinum's, and nothing else. Since I joined here I have been sampling other blades. I have found some very nice blades, but for $19 I need to pick up another 100 Bic's. Great blades.

With all the other 'blade brotherhoods' around here, I'm a little surprised thre isn't a Bic-lovers' Club of some sort.

I am too actually. The Bic's are sharp and smooth, at least for my face. Not a sharp as a GSB or a Polisilver, but plenty sharp. More along the lines of an Astra. I am hoarding the one last Bic blade I have. I may try it this weekend just to remind myself how good it is.

When I was just using the Bic blade and my Merkur OC 180, I would change the blades every Monday morning. I got my whole weeks worth of shaves out of one blade....whether it was 4, 5, or 6.

I tried a Bic Platinum blade yesterday. I didn't have high expectations for this blade, but I was pleasantly surprised. I can say it wasn't a bad shave at all. I did feel a very slight pull in one area which leads me to believe that they aren't quite as sharp as the Gillette Silver Blue, Gillette Black, or Personna Med Preps I normally use.

A very smooth blade though, no nicks, cuts or razor burn whatsoever. Overall it was a really nice shave.
I'm pretty particular about what I use and I could use these blades.
I liked them about as well as the Astra SP or Personna Reds that I use on occasion.

If I found a great deal on them I would consider picking some up.
However, I didn't find them any cheaper than right around $20 per 100, so for that price I prefer the Gillette Silver Blues.
I do see why you like them though.

Are these the Bic Platinums being discussed here? I have a psychological aversion to the Bics (probably because of the HORRID experiences I had with their disposable razors back in the day) which might be unfounded regarding their DE blades...they do seem to garner some favorable comments here..

I must open my closed off mind!!

For the price they are great. I think they are like Shark Super Stainless, sharp but not the smoothest. I didn't like either blade in my DE89 but in my Fatip Piccolo they are superb! Bought 100 of each as they performed so well with that razor.

Bic Chrome Platinum, aye.

Thanks! I might have to take a chance, now that i believe the nightmares associated with the orange Bic disposables might be sufficiently crushed down to keep an open mind!

I'm a noob here and have only tried a few blades so far. This week I tried a Bic platinum and thought it worked pretty well. It was only my 3rd brand to try out of my sampler, but definitely one I put in the successful stack :)
