Best tasting non-cows milk?

For all you milk tasters, what's the best tasting non-cows milk? I've had soy milk, couldn't drink it straight out had to put it in hot cocoa.

Did you try regular soy or vanilla soy? I think regular soy milk tastes like baby formula, but the vanilla is pretty good. Almond milk is also very good, slightly nutty, flavor, plus vanilla usually.

Goat's milk would be my choice. Or coconut milk, and not the kind in the paper carton, but the stuff in the can.

Soy "milk" is disgusting and not even good for you.

I like regular (unflavored) soy milk for cereal and for some cooking.

Rice milk is a bit sweeter and is good for making desserts.

Almond is good and has a nice nuttiness.

Haven't tried hemp.

Flavors between brands are different too - I prefer Silk and really don't like Vitasoy. Pacific Soy soymilk is good, too. Rice Dream ricemilk seems to have the best flavor of the ricemilks to me, but everyone's palate is different.

I've never liked soy milk either. Almond, Hemp, Rice and Coconut (in the carton) are all very good IMHO :) Each ones nutritional content is different. The coconut is my favorite. Many people are straying from soy now because most of it has been genetically modified (like wheat and corn). It has a reputation for increasing estrogen production too. I don't mind goat cheese but, the milk taste like liquid feta. To each there own ;)

I've heard goat milk is delicious. It's always too expensive when I see it for me to try it though.

I could drink almond milk all day every day though.

We make our own almond milk. Extremely easy, very tasty and much better than soy milk

I don't have an exact recipe (I'm sure you can google a million of them), but basically involves soaking almonds over night, then popping off the skin. Then you put them in a blender with a bunch of water and go to town. Finally, strain it through cheesecloth and save the almond flour.

I've not found this to be the case at all.

The "milk" made from nuts is really just the nuts blended in water with the "pulp" removed isn't it? Kind of a misnomer, calling it milk.

I know. Milkweed? Not milk at all. And don't even try Milk of Magnesia in your coffee or on your cereal. Not good.

I like the Blue Diamond brand Sugar-free Vanilla Almond Milk. It tastes great and I like it better than the Silk brand. As for soy milk, I do not like soy milk. It tastes like Similac Baby Formula (soy based) to me. How do I know what Similac tastes like? When I was a teenager, I was in the hospital with a broken jaw (long story) and they tried to get me to drink that stuff. They insisted that I drink it with my meals because I needed the nutrients or something. I tried one bottle and afterwards, I couldn't seem to wash the taste out of my mouth. Ever burp a baby after they've been drinking soy based baby formula? It smells the same as it did when it went in...blech. After that I ended up pouring the rest down the drain. Since then I have not been able to stand soy milk of any sort. I like the almond milk really well.

You forgot Coconut milk! That stuff is pretty tasty.

I haven't tried hemp milk, but I eat hemp seeds every day. They're really good for you, so the milk would be worth checking out.

Whoa, do you have the other half of this amulet? (Holds up half an amulet).
This is a very subjective thing, but my answer is almost identical to mmack's above. Most people don't seem to like goat's milk unless they grew up on it. I'm lactose-intolerant -- as Seinfeld said, "I don't like lactose and I won't stand for it!" -- but I do better with goat's milk. Different proteins. And I like the strong taste. It's also very bright white, which is kind of neat. I drink it raw.

I haven't tried hazelnut milk, but it sounds delicious. I love hazelnuts & of course Nutella. I have tried all the others. Hemp milk gives me a stomachache.

I don't find it disgusting, but I *have* read that soy milk and textured soy protein are bad, while tofu and anything fermented can be good.

well you can try

why my parents thought this was superior to real milk, and had cases and cases of it in the basement I'll never know.
But from Personal experience I can tell you It does not taste like milk.

For years we are using Soy milk, mostly the vanilla flavored kind. I love coconut milk, but unfortunately, it is loaded with saturated fats. Don't care much for rice milk, almond is OK.

Is it because you are lactose intolerant or you want to avoid animal-product milks? (or both)
