Best Superlather Combos?

What creams and soaps were just meant to be married on the back of a badger? What is in your superlather?

For me the best combination has been a SOBS (Sue of Old Bond Street):
Mix a healthy brush of Honeybee Sue's super slick "Coffee Mocha" and a small dollop of TOBS Almond
The result is slick and moisturising, and smells good enough to be put into a pie and baked!

Williams + any cream works well. If you use Williams, just use a speck of a cream and you'll get a very nice lather.

I'd never heard of Godrej before, the website makes it sound absolutely luscious and creamy. Are there any online vendors that sell it?

Try a quick search on the bay. I bought the menthol mist there, dirt cheap, and reasonable shipping.

by far my favorite: VDH Deluxe + Proraso. When you get it just right it's heaven.

Also, VDH Deluxe + KMF Lime. Another nice one.

Proraso green + Palmolive sensitive cream + aloe vera

eh - it's a love it, or hate it type of soap...

I happen to love it! :001_tt1:

I don't mind Williams except for the scent. I found it worked great when Super-Lathered with KMF Unscented. I am going to revisit this combo again soon, maybe I can get used to the rather strange Citronella scent of Williams.:eek:

Revisit? This coming from you, Mr. I Hate Williams?

Anybody tried Tabac and Proraso? I'm a newb, and those are more-or-less the "must tries" in the soap and cream categories, so that's what I have so far (and, of course, a puck of Van der Hagen).

And not to hijack the thread or be a doubter, but is there really something magic about mixing soap and cream? Or is it just that you end up with lots of product on your brush that way?

i haven't tried tabc and proraso yet because I think it will be a major smell clash, I may develop the courage to the it in the future....

And does mixing cream and soap make a difference, well I have found it makes a world of difference! I had a bunch of very slick soaps that didn't provide much moisturising to my face, and when I first read about superlather I ran and mixed up my soaps with the only cream I had at the time (TOBS Avocado, the most moisturising cream ever!) and they all made the thickest and slickest foam I have ever shaved with, and it shaved sooo smooth. Basically you can do this superlather business to mix the effects of creasm and soaps, or to mix scents to make a custom shave scent (for me the almond Tobs and coffee mocha Sue soap are the best smell combo... if only Sue made almond coffee mocha), or you can do it to combine the good qualities of each product. Finally you could do it because it means you can support you SSAD and SCAD all in the name of experimenting to find the best mix (some of us have all the debilitating AD's, oh the suffering, the thick shaving cream and tears)

My recommendation is to try it, I have never found a mix that caused problems as far as the shave is concerned, so all you have to lose is a small dollop of cream, but you may find yourself addicted to buying every soap and cream out there is it works hehehe...

I do hate Williams, but I am willing to entertain the possibility that I might have written it off too hastily in my zest as a newbie.

If I find it truly to be as awful as I presently think it to be, at least I will have better educated myself, and can better defend such an opinion.

To date, I think I tried Williams twice by itself, and about a half a dozen times Super-Lathered with KMF Unscented.:thumbup1:

I have said this before, but I am still not 100% gun ho about needing to order everything for this great hobby off the Internet. :frown:
