Best Rose Cream other than Taylor's?

Well, I love Taylor's Rose shaving cream, but I am going to get some Jermyn Street next so I decided to try another brand of rose. Castle Forbes does not have one, apparently, but Truefitt and Trumpers do.

I am only interested in a cream, I am aware of croaps like QCS rose otto. Just so you know. I have a ton of soaps, I want to try a few more select creams.

Price is not the primary driver for me, but just so you know (using Amazon Prime delivered prices - I shop B&B supporters, but this is for comparison purposes), per gram prices are as follows.

Taylor's, 150 grams, $14.75 = 9.8 cents per gram.

Trumpers, 200 grams, $26.50 = 13.3 cents per gram.

Truefitt & Hill, 165 grams, $30.00 = 18.2 cents per gram

D.R. Harris has one, but I cannot find it at Amazon, so using WCS $25 price and estimating $5 shipping, call it $30.

Harris, 150 grams, $30.00 = 20.0 cents per gram

Comment on anything you like, of course, but remember I am looking for a cream in a tub. Not a croap. Most helpful would be people who have tried more than one. By the way, I love TOBS rose, the only reason I'm looking at something else is I am going to try their Jermyn Street and want to try a different brand. I love the TOBS stuff, nothing wrong with it. Just playing around!

John, I'd go with T&H Rose which I find lovely. I'd stay away from Trumpers Rose because the heavy colouring of this cream did stain one of my Vulfix brushes with a rosey colour.

Thanks for that tip, Marco! I also know you are a big Truefitt fan, and you have more breadth of experience across many products than most. I'm leaning T&H.

T&H makes very solid soft shaving creams, you really cannot go wrong with any of them. My favourite is the Ultimate Comfort, which has a light scent of Lavender and the lather just explodes off of the brush!

In my current drawer full of soaps I only keep one cream, a Rose. For the past 3+ years it's been Taylor, but next month when my current tub of Taylor Rose is gone, it's being replaced with T&H. I recently finished my 2nd sample pack of T&H and I like their Rose more than Taylor. For me the difference in price is worth it.

I just tried a sample of Al's Rosebud cream. It had a beautifully balanced scent and performed very well. Why not try an artisan, rather than the big 3 T's? Personally, I find T&H to be an overpriced version of TOBS, performance wise. I know the scents are different, but it is it really worth paying twice as much for an extra 1/2 ounce?

Also consider Cyril R. Salter if you like British creams. It also has a delicious rose scent and is $15 for 5.8 oz on WCS.

The best Rose cream I've ever used(and I've tried so many,it borders on the ridiculous),is,without any doubt, the Truefitt&Hill version of Rose. Thick and protective lather and the best Rose scent,IMO

Sono d'accordo ancora Marco. The Trumpers Rose permanently stained one of my favorite(and expensive) brushes a distinct shade of Pink ! Go with the T&H version. Its superb.and didn't stain at all.

sorry to hear about that> I have some trumpers rose that I have not opened yet. I will watch out what I stick in it

I know, you said tub... but the Rose of Bulgaria cream in the tube is pretty much the only rose anything I've ever liked. If you are already a fan of rose products, I can't say a single bad thing about that cream, if you can find and get some.

Hmmm, just found the Salter. Economical, too, like TOBS!

Have either of you used both Salter and Truefitt?

I had a tub of Salter Rose. It's a good cream but the Salter scent is a "tea" rose, different from the rose scent of TOBS, GFT & T&H.

I've used T&H sandalwood but not the Rose. It was a very nice cream. I'm sure the Rose would be just as good. As njpaddy states, Salters rose has a scent that differs. It's certainly not your garden variety of roses. I would say it is somewhat muted and not as floral, but very nice none-the-less. It smells very much like the wild roses we have growing here in AK.

I've tried samples of the four in the initial thread and I give another vote to T&H. Harris is very nice too, but the dark pigment of the cream is a negative (to me anyway).

The sample of T&H Rose was nearly perfect, from the color (light) to the scent (subdued) to the lather (massive). No discoloration left on my brush tips, no after-shave irritation. The only negative is cost.
