Best performing English soap (scent excluded)

I have a pretty comprehensive collection of German, Italian and French soaps (and Turkish too!). I will be in NYC this summer and plan on a pilgrimage to Pasteurs and look forward to evaluating the scents of the English soaps, but which brands are the best performing? Comparos appreciated.

I vote for DR Harris.

+1 to cvac's awesome comparison thread linked above. I can't imagine you'll be left with many English soap questions after reading that thread.

I say Harris, MWF and though it doesn't seem to get the recognition it deserves, IMO, TOBS.

I agree on the TOBS !! TOBS gets alot of great credit on their creams , but the soaps are awesome as well. I also love Harris soaps. , unfortunately I had allergic reactions to MWF , so I gave the rest to my father in law and he loves it ..

MWF, Harris, Erasmic, Trumper (before they had quality issues), Truefitt, Bath House, all in that order

If the thread was "British soaps", I would have Scottish Fine Soaps shaving soap in 3rd place

The best title would be: "Soaps that I don't currently own that are available at Pasteurs"

As English soaps go, D.R. Harris gets my vote. I found TOBS and T&H kinda meh, and Trumpers soaps were a huge disappointment.

MWF and DRH are on the top for me but I want to give a praise to EJ\Muehle soaps as well. I find them slightly better than TOBS. I use their Sandalwood soap and am very pleased with the performance and post-shave effect. I think it's the missing link between the tallow based soaps like MWF, DRH, Tabac, etc. and the French veggie soaps. BUT I'm not sure if it's really English soap or German.

EJ software is made in Germany. Mühle is labeled "Made in Germany", EJ is labeled "Made in the European Union". You do the math. :wink2:

I've been using Harris Arlington for off and on for the past year, almost gave up on Lavender but it is just as good as Arlington, I also have some Almond and Marlborough, the Marlborough scent is very faint, but they all shave excellently.

Glad I kept them, you will definitely get your moneys worth with Harris pucks though, as they last forever.

I also have some T&H Luxury that works quite well, not sure when it was made though, as in the comparison thread there seemed to be some question about the quality and maybe reformulation. Have a Vintage Blades refill i need to use to see if its ok.

AOS is still #1 to me though I certainly can't complain about Harris.
