Best knife or knives for under $100

I wanna get my mom a real good knife for Christmas but she is not the type to take care of her stuff. So my budget it $100 or less and i wanna hear some recommendations

I was looking at getting her one of the following

victorinox 8, 10 chefs knife and a santoku- they are cheap and for price i can get her all 3 for under $100

tojiro dp 210 mm gyuto

fujiwara fkm 210mm gyuto

Kotobuki 8 inch Gyuto

Kanetsugu 210 mm gyuto

I was gonna get her a shun 6 piece set or global 6 piece se but then i saw her dog chewing on her $4000 braces and $700 glasses, she acted like she didnt care so i realized shes never care for the shuns and would end up ruining them and therefore would rather get her something that can take a but more abuse then them.

Old hickory makes super quality knives with low prices. Just don't put them in the dish washer. They are carbon steel that easily take and hold a razor edge very well.

No knife expert but I do have an 8" Victorinox Chefs, a 10" bread, and 6" boning knife. The are inexpensive but do a great job for all my kitchen duties.

Get thee to a restaurant supply store and get some Winco knives. They're good quality and very affordable, inexpensive enough that it won't matter if she trashes them.

Also, if you get the ones with the injection molded plastic handles, they can go in the dishwasher.

For the money, the Victorinox Fibrox line is pretty tough to beat. That being said, I really do love my Global. I have the 8" Chef's knife and use it for pretty much everything.

Do u have a victorinox and if so would you say the global is 4x better since it cost about 4x the price.

I do not own a Victorinox, but I have used them. No, the Global is not 4x better. I love it, but not a value proposition, like I said, bang for the buck, you can't beat the Victorinox.

Sanelli knives from Italy are used in professional kitches, keep their edge, go into the dishwasher, and can take a lot of abuse, plus reasonable pricing.

Last year I bought my father some Ceramic knives for Christmas. He still uses them and they are still nice and sharp. But they can't be placed in the dishwasher and can break if you drop them. The price was only 30$ for 3 knives. of 4,5 and 6 inch.

Tojiro DP is hard to beat when it comes to cost vs. what you get.
It's also very middle of the road, not extreme in any way, which is a good thing for a general purpose, first "good" knife.

OLD Hickory Knives can be found in a set for under 70 bucks and they can be hair popping sharp with ease. I got my Grandmothers set she got for Christmas 1972.

I do not have a Victorinox, but do remember that Cook's Illustrated spoke highly of several. Think paring knives and slicers.
