Best injector blades???

I'm new to injector razors and need to be educated about injector blades. Which are considered the "best"? And where can I order them? The last time I ordered SE's from Ted Pella I noticed they have coated stainless steel injector blades. Are they any good? The price is right. Dan

The CVS blades you're using are the same as the Ted Pellas, as described here:

They're also sold under the Meijer brand at a store about a mile down the road from here in a 15-pack for $3.99. Meijer is a midwest chain in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois.

As described in reviews on Amazon.com and in the review linked above, these blades are OK, but the Schicks are better. You can also try NOS Schicks, Personna 74's, even Gillettes on eBay, at 3-4 times what I paid for a pack of Meijer/ASR's.

The shave with these blades goes fairly easily and quickly, but not as smooth or close as I can get with certain DE blades in a Gillette adjustable. I'm not sure I want to pursue injector shaving any further, due to the limited blade supply and selection.

As always with blades, YMMV.

I just got my seventh excellent shave with a single CVS injector blade this morning, and I plan to try it at least once more before replacing it. I've got a pack of the EMS blades as well, and also some of the Chinese Schicks, but haven't tried them yet. The Schicks are the most expensive, although if they last longer, that could make up for it.

Which doesn't quite answer the OP's question, but I wanted to add another question. Does anybody know for sure if Snyder brand blades are the same as the CVS ones, but with a different label?

Oh, where can you order them? The Schick blades are available on Amazon, and if you order in lots of four packages, they qualify for free shipping. The Shave Den Store just started to carry the Ted Pellas, although you might find a better price elsewhere. I bought mine from an eBay dealer, but didn't get the best price there, either.

The CVS blades I bought at my local CVS.

About Snyder v. Meijer v, CVS.......I have found with ASR injector blades that there can be variations in the various brands and also due to the various times they were made (for NOS). One thing is to see if the package says it is comfort coated or not. The biggest issue I have had with most ASR injector blades starting in the 80's is that they often nick me, especially when they are older or I am taking the blade to its limits (or not concentrating).

Older ASR blades (Personna 74, Personna Red with Tungsten on the back) did not tend to do this. Neither did the Schick blades up until the German made ones. The Chinese made ones do it some as well but are a litlle different than the German ones.

Since I used an injector much of the time in the 80's and 90's, I am doing more DE shaving now, but encourage people to use and injector. If I could only have one razor, it might be an injector........

The Meijer/ASR injector blades are comfort coated, but still not as smooth as a Shark Super Stainless or a Treet Durasharp Classic in my Super Adjustable.

The Meijer/ASR DE blades, $3.99 a 10-pack, were comfort coated until about a month ago. The new packaging card does not mention comfort coating, which makes them the same as WalMart Personnas for more than twice the money.

And so it goes...

As always, YMMV

B&B membership has its percs
As long as Meijers Shifty Acres is keeping ChinaMart out of this area I'll buy their blades. I will refrain from commenting on their shoppers, those who think that cheap is good, but out of respect for the refrigerators on their porches, or the real people of Walmart ..
