Best clear Demonstrators under $200

Hey BB,

Just wanted to ask what are people's favorite demonstrators for under $200. I have a preference for Japanese F nib styles. I'll try and italic nib, but I don't really like Medium, or Japanese EF . I have a Noodlers Konrad ( bent the nib :( ), had a guanleming 2001 that I didn't like, LAMY Vista which writes ok, but not as smooth as a Pelikan m200 or a Pilot custom ?? that I have, and just ordered a Pilot Custom Heritage 92 in F nib. I'm wondering if I'm missing out on any. I know TWSBI is famous, but the clear versions are sold out everywhere, here in Koream their website, goulets ( and shipping becomes an issue also). I'm not sure if their getting rid of stock or something. So anyway, I would like a recommendation on anything you guys have used. Thanks!

Also I have big hands and I just sold the pelikan due to its size so keep that into account.

You can get four Pilot Preras! They have a wide variety of clear demonstrators.

Ah--I just saw the comment about your hand size. The Prera looks a lot like a small Pelikan, so this might not be the best. You are already covered with a larger Pilot so what about a Platinum? There are a couple of their 3776 series available in clear models, and there is also a nice translucent red one. I should think that you'd be able to just walk in a stationery store and find one.

Waterman Kultur demonstrator seems like an inexpensive choice.

You beat me to it. I have one, and they're good pens. I don't know if an extra-fine nib exists for those, but that's what the OP would likely be happiest with if he enjoys Japanese fine nibs.

Sailor makes demonstrators.

You could check their 1911 line ... probably good hunting will turn up a large 1911 demonstrator within your price range. (King of Pen ... nice but well over $200)

I would love to get a King of Pen or a Pelikan 1005 but not yet. There's a pen show here in Korea in Seoul on the 17th so I will see what I can pick up there. The 1911 is good but I don't want to deal with converters, I like it to be as fail proof as possible, instead of dealing with detachable pieces. But if it's a good size with a good nib I'll try it.

So I'll give the waterman a try. Also anyone have any experience with Monteverde? They make a demonstrator but I haven't heard anything about them.
Also Stipula pens?

If there's a pen show, you should keep your eyes open for some good used pens too. Also, if you are looking for demonstrators, you might find some interesting things as some of the bigger vendors pull out old items that they have left in stock.
