Best Beard Trimmer UNDER $20

I use a Wahl trimmer that I got from costco (has all sorts of guides); I'm pleased with the quality. The documentation is minimal, but that's what the internet is for!

How long have you had it? Is it consistent?

I've had it about 9 months or so. I used it once a week for about 4 months, probably for about 5 minutes each time before it needed to be charged, the first charge lasted that long. It has been charged about 4 times since then because now my dad uses it to trim his entire beard and head every week as well as me using it so the charge is pretty good.

As for the actual performance, cuts evenly all over and doesn't need going over the same areas several times, twice at the most.No pulling or anything either so pretty comfortable.

Over all I can't fault it and definitely wouldn't get anything more expensive than it as I can't see the performance being any better.

Thanks. I do like the Philips since it has a built in trimmer. However I have a feeling that it doesn't cut evenly. Do you have any experience with a shaver like that?

No I haven't tried one like that before. I've never used anything that cuts very uneven though, maybe a little uneven but nothing noticable to other people. I like how the Phillips one has 10 settings which I guess would be useful. I keep everything pretty short so I'm happy with the Wahl for now.

I don't think it matters too much which you get as they all do the same thing really it is not like choosing between two proper razors.

I am surprised to see that Wahl still makes the 9906 trimmer as I had one of those at least 20 years ago.

They were average to say the least.

Be forewarned, they chew through batteries very quickly.

Thanks,
Mike

I prefer the Norelco simply due to the built in comb adjustment. I hate changing combs and typically lose them.

My Wahl trimmer is probably 4 or 5 years old, cost about $20 new. Works as well today as the day I bought it. Batteries are rechargeable, and the original battery is still in the unit. If it fails tomorrow, I'll go out and get another Wahl.

I'm going to purchase the Philips. I'm not excited about the idea of oiling the shaver. Also, I prefer not to have so many loose parts.
