Best bang for the buck brand?

"Quality" is a slippery notion. For one driver a Honda might be a quality automobile, and a BMW might be twice as expensive for only a marginal improvement. Another driver might not be content with anything less than a BMW. So I think "price/quality ratio" is really asking "what's the cheapest product that you actually like?"

When it comes to brushes, my answer is an Omega boar. I started with a Tweezerman, and it was acceptable... but not as good as my Omegas, and actually more expensive. I have a Rooney in finest and a Simpsons two-band, and they are very nice - but the marginal increase in quality does not close the gap in price with the Omegas.

Just out of curiosity, what brand of shaving brushes do you think has the best quality/price ratio?
IMO in Europe the best quality/price ratio for silvertip brush brand is Mühle.
example:
Mühle silvertip, 21mm, resin handle: 53.00€
EJ silvertip, resin handle, with exact same knot: 67.50£ (about 81.00€!)

I've had well over a dozen different brushes, and now I have my rotation narrowed down to 6 brushes.

From my view you can't beat Vulfix. A good variety of sizes, grades, etc. And they won't break the bank. Of the 6 I use, 3 are Vulfix.

Check them out here at Classic Shaving, only because they have good pictures and descriptions. www.classicshaving.com :thumbup1:

I think the Vulfix Grosvenor 404 in a mixed boar and badger knot is a whole lot of brush for $26 from Shoebox.

Omega brushes are pretty darn nice also for an inexpensive brush.

Other than those two, I think the best bang for your buck is a used handle refitted with a TGN finest knot. They really are nice knots.

i am really impressed with the work done by cooncat bob and rudy vey but pricing, eliterazors.com, or robert quinn, has some TGN knots with some very good looking handles. His prices now are very, very competitive. I am very likely to use his wares or get a shavemac, but since his hair is like the shavemac, well, likely to go with him for my next brush

I own a Bob Quinn brush (an Amboyna Burl 22mm knot beauty), and I can vouch for the quality. I only have 4 brushes, but it might be my favorite out of all of them.
