Best Atra knock-offs

I've got to do some traveling next week for work, and I don't want to check a bag. I have an old Atra handle, and I was wondering what the best Atra knock-off cartridges are. I know YMMV, but just wanted to see what the consensus is. I've got Wally World, CVS, Walgreens, Dollar General, and Family Dollar local to me.

CVS sells the Trac II /Atra combo blade with the lubricated strip. I've been using them and can get 3 good shaves out of them. Probably could get 4. I've been using the blades in a Schick Super II handle or the Trac II handle.

Yup, those are a definite possibility. Those are made by Personna, correct?

I've seen some good reports on here about some Wilkinson-made ones from Wal-Mart, but none of my local stores seem to have them in stock.

I like the Wally World Wilkies although been using the Dollar General ones this week and they have been shaving excellent

So far I'm striking out; neither Wally World or DG near me had them. There are several other DG's around me, though, so one of them might have them. Still haven't checked CVS or Family Dollar.

Family Dollar near me carries the rebadge Dorco twins. Since I don't own an Atra or Trac II I can't tell you how well the perform.

Albertson's sells a generic brand of the Atra carts now, I saw them this morning. A bit pricey though $6.00 for 10.

Personna PII, or NOS Wilkinson Profile cartridges. Get them on Ebay, of via Amazon.

Last time I had 200 NOS Wilkinson Profile cartridges (w/o lubrastrip) for 50 euro. Some DE blades are more expensive!

The Dollar General ones are Dorcos from Korea. They work really well, better than the Dorco DEs. I also like the Personna ones, if you can find those.

They really have, with the private label stuff. Walgreen's just switched their private label blades/carts from Personna to Dorco.

If they have the right price Dorco will take this over. I'm glad I already have plenty of non-Dorco blades on hand. If they can land any of the supermarket/pharmacy chains it might mean the end of readily available OTC Personnas. Ugh!:mad3:

As you surmise, I am NOT a fan of either Dorco variety.

Alright, so I picked up a six-pack of the DG's a few minutes ago. You can't beat the price. Plus, the only time I'll probably be using them is when I travel. My Slim & DE's just give me too dang good of a shave to get replaced.

Used one yesterday, and got a BBS in two passes with no weepers/irritation, very pleased with the results! I'll be hanging to these for the next time I travel. I might try to get a better Atra handle, though, because the joint between the round handle and the arm that holds the cartridge (whatever that thing's called) is loose.

I'll say this, I know now for sure that the techniques I've picked up from DE shaving helped me to get such a great shave from this cartridge.
