Berkley 46 vs Wee Scot

Am interested in grabbing myself a small brush for travel. As the price is nearly the same, which of these two would you pick and why?

G'Day mate,

Just bought myself a Wee Scott for travel and it is fantastic. Don't let the size fool you. It's great for face lathering or even lathering in a bowl. I have to say that it's so good that I now use it even when I am not travelling. Lathers well, excellent back bone and dries quickly after washing and fits easily in a travel bag. When travelling, I use it with Palmolive shave stick.

Great brush. A must have for any traveller. I also take it on holidays with me. Hey why sacrifice luxury!!!

I sold my Wee Scott and replaced it with a Omega Mighty Midget as my travel brush. The Wee Scott was very nicely made but it was too uncomfortable to hold and the excess lather would drop all over the handle making it even more uncomfortable to hold.

Here's a comparison shot of the Berkeley, Wee Scot and Duke 1 in front of a Simpson travel case. Not pictured, but in the same size range is a Simpson Case brush that some vendors sell together with the travel case. The Duke 1, Wee Scot and Case brushes all fit in the travel case, but most Berkeleys are too tall. Mine has a lower loft than most and barely makes it. My favorite travel brush is the Duke 1. It costs a little more, but it's worth it. One of my top 3 brushes. The Wee Scot handle is just too small and sloppy for me unless I'm using a shave stick so I rarely take it on vacation. The Berkeley is a great brush but mine hasn't seen much use since I got the Duke 1.

I know it's not in your original question, but perhaps consider a custom brush from Rudy Vey or another custom brush maker. It will be a bit more expensive, but you can have something made exactly how you want.

I love the size of my Wee Scot. In fact, I've been thinking lately, that if I had to do the whole minimalist thing, I'd go Proraso Pre/Post, La Toja Stick and Wee Scot. In fact, at the moment, it's my "easy shave" combo, and I love it.

Haha I have spent enough lately, and am just wondering what the opinions are when it comes to Berkley vs Scot. But thanks for suggestion.

I switched my travel brush from the Wee Scot to the Classic (it fits in the travel tube). Nothing against the performance of the Wee Scot, I just prefer a larger brush.

I have both the Berkeley and the Wee Scott. I take the Scott on travel because it fits nicely in just about any plastic case you can imagine. I put mine in a travel soap container that has holes punched in it. The container holds my brush and a broken down ball end tech perfectly.

Plus, I think the Scott is a better brush in general.

A short time ago I had an "little" SBAD attack. So far the Wee Scot, Mighty midgets in Boar, Badger, Badger/Boar mix have arrived. Still waiting on the two tiny Vie-Longs to arrive. I haven't used any yet as I want to photo document the whole group of my madness together pre and post bloom. I must say I was astonished at how small the Wee Scot is compared to the other tiny brushes. I'm not knocking it at all, as it's yet to be tested. Next week when the Vie-Longs show up it will all begin. My initial impression though would be to go with the Berkeley, a great brush, but you can wait around a week and I'll have a full report.

Cheers Till!

I have the Berkeley, and find it a bit small for me. So, the Wee Scot would be way too tiny for my larger hands to handle. I also like to bowl lather. The Berkeley does an okay job at it, but you need to work a bit more than a larger brush to get the lather nice and cushy. For face lathering, or for a travel brush, I'd take the Berkeley over the Wee Scot any day.

They're both "best badger", which I've found to be soft, yet has some backbone to it. You'll enjoy the feel of either. I just like a brush that's a little bit larger.

There's also the Case to consider as well-kinda like splitting the difference between the two, and fit's in the dedicated Simpson tube, unlike the Berkley which will require some other travel tube solution. I have all three-and maybe I haven't unlocked it's secret yet-but too me the Wee Scot is a bit of a novelty, a very cool brush to own, yes, but in practical terms a novelty. The Berkley while on the smaller size, is a great little brush and one that I use frequently-when I'm not using one of my many boars :001_tt1:. The Case performs similarly to the Berkley- a scrubby little face latherer-but is not too significantly smaller. From what I've heard the Classic 1 also fit's in the Simpson Tube.

When I do travel I usually bring my Omega #11047-mixed boar/badger-tiny handle, BIG knot, and CHEAP. On my next upcoming trip in a couple weeks, however I think I will give the Case a shot.

I am in a dilemma myself. I've got the Wee and the Special in pure (it's got it's place for me) but I want something that feels like the Wee but is a tad bit bigger. Berkley or Case or jump up to Colonel? Oh, I also got the actual Case tube thinking the Special would fit, it's just a display...

Omega -mixed boar/badger is a great one too, firm backbone, this little buger is good on soap and cream

I'm loving the Mixed midget. It works well with everything I whip with it.

I'm in a similar boat. I've used a Duke 3 for a year or so and just got the Wee Scot. I love the Wee Scot, and now the Duke 3 feels like a monster. I'm wondering now if there is a happy medium somewhere between the two. Berkeley? Classic? Duke 1? I wish there was a shop nearby where I could see them myself, it is hard to tell from photos on a website which one I would like the best.
