Bengall Info Required - Sheffield

I received this blade today but have no idea of its history. Can someone knowledgeable please help. It seem to be in good shape, but want to know before I pay.

They are excellent Sheffield razors and were heavily marketed in Australia. I believe they were made up through the 1950s. Yours is obviously an older one. I have one in a 6/8 that you would have to take from my cold soapy hands. I love it.

It is a Sheffield blade made after 1891 by Cadman. They are very good Shavers and of very good quality.Just make sure you have it properly honed so you have a shave ready edge.

The size on the box is 1/2, I assume 4/8 then...
It looks about that. Most commonly I see them in 5/8 and 6/8, though they were made in many sizes. I have probably had about 50 pass through my hands, and while most are not fancy or "exciting", I have never had a dud one with quality control issues. They are one of the most reliably and consistently built vintage razors out there, and an excellent first razor to learn with.

That one dates from the 20-30's, and is good, restorable condition.

Not living in an imperial world I tend to get the sizes dreadfully wrong, especially on items not marked. The Bengall above is a 5/8 and is a dream to shave with. What is confusing is the size on the original box is 1/2..

Nice razor with interesting scales. You will enjoy your Begall.

I shaved with mine this morning, they truly are fantastic blades. I paid $20 for mine which I think was a steal.
